Yongnuo YN600EX-RT II Reviews

Needed a flash to redeem myself from a 4th of July event I shot at last year that I'm headed back to this year. It has improved my real estate photography as well. The build quality is good and the brightness is effective at 200mm at ISO 50. Seems to be an exact replica of the Canon. Well worth the $100

I'm finding I'm getting much better results in eTTL when I use the test preflash function on the camera, Otherwise, dialling in the required amount of light will provide a more consistent result.

It is Okay ... BUT .... wait, there's more!

Really nice flash unit ... except for certain definite limitations. The battery door breaks on older iterations, necessitating the purchase of a replacement on eBay. I understand newer production units have better doors. It is fairly large, making it somewhat unwieldy atop even a heavy, large sensor camera body. It is very responsive to E-TTL commands from the camera, although it gets corn-fusing if you have selected camera based flash output compensation and also flash based compensation settings. It has lots of on-flash controls for both exposure / compensation and wireless remote control, and it works really well - UNLESS and UNTIL it up and dies for no reason after light use. It does a great job lighting relativly distant subjects under low light - such as shooting award presentations during big ball room convention scene - and it does a good job, UNTIL it just up and dies after light duty use. So, as my example has attained a sudden unhappy end, I am once again shopping for a substantial flash unit. Good luck ... you pays your money and takes your chances. I lost the bet on this one. JR

I have 8 of these in addition to my existing expensive Canon 600 EX RT II flashes. The flashes work surprisingly well. They are of lighter construction than my Canon 600 flashes but they seem to hold up if treated reasonably. I gave them a 5 grading on a slight curve for lighter construction but they work surprisingly well and will remain in my bag for some time to come.

I bought this speed light at the last minute for an event shoot. My other lights had issues. This light filled the bill nicely. The first thing I look for is that the hot shoe connector is not one that has a wheel that turns to lock. This one has the switch that locks it in place. Also I like the battery level so indicator. Thank you B&H for fast shipping.

question

Will this work with the YN622-C wireless trigger?
Asked by: DENISE M.
Not directly, no. The Yongnuo Speedlite YN600EX-RT II for Canon Cameras would be compatible with Canon's wireless radio system, not with Yongnuo's wireless radio system. If you wish to use the Yongnuo YN-622C II E-TTL Wireless Flash Transceiver for Canon with the YN600EX-RT II for Canon, you would have to connect a YN-622C II to the bottom of the YN600EX-RT II, as well as connect a second YN-622C II to the camera's hot shoe. As such, you would need two (2) YN-622C II remotes; using one alone will not work with the built-in Canon radio inside the Yongnuo YN6020EX-RT II for Canon Speedlite Flash.
