My first add-on flash

I could probably give this flash a higher rating, but I've only had it for about ten days. I'm still learning settings, etc. Performs great, pretty intuitive coming out of the box; no overheating or reset problems thus far. Overheating had been a concern in some appraisals I had read prior to purchase. All that and a third of the price of other flashes out there.

I use these flashes manually and it is nice to have HSS. Was able to not have to pull ND filters out last shoot.

Excellent product.

It works great with my Canon DSLR. The built quality is good too. The flash also comes with a continuous light for video recording. It is an all-around performance product. Great product for the price also.

I am a professional photographer full time, just photographed a mardi gras ball with lots flash and 3 social events associated. This flash was very impressive and had the power to bounce and light a room. Not built like the cannon but can replace it for a fraction of the cost. Good buy so far.

Looks nice...does nothing!

I will admit, this is the first speedlite I've ever owned or used. It looks great! But that's where my excitement ended :( I used fresh, brand new batteries and the LCD immediately came to life once powered up. It was able to communicate with my Canon camera effortlessly. I was able to fire the flash twice and then I could not get it to fire again. Not even pressing the test button (which was lit up red and therefore ready to go) would fire the flash. Admittedly, I used regular AA batteries so before I return it, I'm going to try some good brand name batteries. I'm hoping it's just a case of the batteries being good enough to keep the LCD lit but maybe not strong enough to fire the flash?? Oh, and the LED lights work fine though. It will be used mainly for macro photography with the 105mm Sigma macro lens, so I might switch to a ring light if my better battery theory doesn't pan out.

great for humming birds

I bought three of these along with the flash controller to do hummingbird photography. Although the instruction booklet is hard to interpret I was able to use the flashes in the manual mode with low power to stop the wings. So far I have had no problems and have some quite sharp hummers. I will explore the possibilities later in other uses. So far they are a great value at less than one third the price for the comparable Canon flash which already have one and it synced with the controller. Would buy again

Works with the Yongnuo YN560-TX II and a Yongnuo YN560-IV Speedlite?
Asked by: Adorna
Unfortunately no, it is not compatible with the YN560-TX II controller. Since it is a TTL flash, it would be recommended to use the TTL controller instead: B&H # YOYN622CTX MFR # YN-622C-TX https://bhpho.to/3tcRIr1

Could "no-name" batteries be the reason the flash won't fire? The LCD lights up, the LED lights work fine and the flash communicates with my camera...but the flash doesn't fire, not even when I press the "test" button (which is lit up red and ready to go). Should I try a better grade of batteries?
Asked by: Sean
Try with Rechargeable Eneloop batteries or the like, or with lithium disposable batteries before assuming the issue is the flash.

This is the first speedlite I've ever owned but after installing fresh batteries and ensuring it powered up properly and was communicating with my camera, the flash just won't fire. Not even when I push the "test" button (which is lit up red). Do i just have a defective flash?
Asked by: Sean
A bit of a late update, but turns out it was defective. The B&H replacement process made the exchange quick and simple and I have been enjoying this flash for the last couple years now :)
