Pioneer XDP-300R overview

  • 1Description

Enjoy hi-res audio with the silver XDP-300R Digital Audio Player from Pioneer. This portable player features a 4.7" capacitive touchscreen display that makes navigating through favorite tracks and playlists easy and intuitive. The XDP-300R supports multiple audio formats, including up to 11.2 MHz DSD, 384 kHz/24-bit PCM, FLAC, ALAC, WAV, AIFF, and MQA files. It comes with 32GB of built-in memory and features dual microSD card slots for expanding the base storage even further. The XDP-300R is equipped with both 2.5mm balanced and 3.5mm headphone outputs. It also supports Bluetooth and Wi-Fi technology for streaming audio. Audio can also be played via the micro-USB-B/OTG digital output.

The Android 5.1 operating system comes pre-installed on the XDP-300R with Google Play Store accessibility. Depending on file type and usage, the player's built-in battery can last up to 16 hours. A micro-USB cable is included.

Independent Audio Circuit Board

Complete separation between the audio circuit board (DAC and AMP) and CPU board allows for an internally separated construction. Within the DAC and AMP board, the audio circuitry and switching power are distanced as far as possible to limit the effects of noise. The DAC & AMP have their own capacitors to provide a clean audio signal with its closed loop design.

Two Types of Balanced Drives

Balanced output via the 2.5mm 4-pole supports the standard BTL drive as well as ACG (Active Control GND) drive. The ACG drive is a different form of balanced drive where the amp's COLD side actively drives to create an ideally stable GND. Power gains and increased sound separation associated with balanced output are repurposed to create increased stability for a clean signal and a greater sound clarity, especially compared to unbalanced drive.

High-Precision EQ-HD

With up to 16,384 discrete bands to select from, and the ability to save up to 1,000 EQ profiles, the linear-phase FIR equalizer offers high-definition equalization with zero loss in audio quality.

Intuitive GUI Interface

The 4.7" capacitive touchscreen incorporates a GUI that allows for swiping vertically between your often-accessed playlists and equalizer settings. There is also a selectable GUI to display full color album art and rearranging of the button layout to the lower half of the screen for easier one-handed operation.

Storage Capacity and Battery Life

With 2 microSD card slots (up to 200GB each) and internal memory of 32GB (including system area), you get total storage capacity of up to 432GB for music, movies, and apps. In addition, built-in 1630mAh battery offers a playback time of up to 16 hours.

Wireless Audio

Tether to your smartphone via Wi-Fi to enjoy Hi-Res audio streaming. Enjoy high quality sound wirelessly using Bluetooth and aptX.

    Pioneer XDP-300R reviews

XDP-300R Digital Audio Player (Silver) is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Car Connection / Digital Out Rick, if you connect your DAC to your car with a USB, won't you then be using the DAC of your car stereo? So, kinda makes this connection issue a non-criticism, unless USB can transmit analog signals. You would want to connect the line out from the Pioneer to an analog input on your stereo to take advantage of the DAC. A digital out for a DAC kinda doesn't make too much sense, right?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great DAP, but there are limitations to consider This is a great digital audio player. It's loaded with performance and features that would be pleasing to most audiophiles at this price point. I use it with Media Monkey/Android to sync with my music library (2800 tracks). I especially appreciate that the device run on Android 5.1.5. I haven't loaded it with apps, but I can run apps when I need to. There are, however, some limitations that one should consider before purchasing the Pioneer XDP-300R. 1) I am only able to use bluetooth to connect the device to my car's audio system (a 2017 CR-V). The Android Auto app must be installed to use the car's USB ports, but Google Play reports that this app is not compatible with the Pioneer XDP-300R (because it's not a phone). I have tried various apps and connectors, but so far, bluetooth is it. This means a lot of compression and distortion in the music. 2) Support from pioneer is non-existent. I haven't been able to find even an onlineforum. Onkyo (which actually manufactures the device - I believe) won't provide support either. I've had better luck getting support from Google. 3) Android 5.1 is an old release of the OS. The current version is 8. It's unlikely that either Pioneer or Onkyo will release an updated version. So far, this isn't a problem. But it won't be too long before 5.1 is no longer supported. Sill, I'm very fond of the XDP-300R. It's a major improvement over my iPod and MP3. I just wish was better supported.
