Ibanez RG657MSKSTB overview

  • 1Description

Styled in a sunset burst finish, the Ibanez Prestige Series RG657MSK is an electric guitar with a solid, double-cutaway body, a bolt-on neck, DiMarzio pickups, and an Edge Tremolo bridge. The Super Wizard HP five-piece neck, constructed out of maple and walnut, provides a scale of 25.5” and features a birdseye maple fingerboard with 24 jumbo frets and black dot inlays. The body is fashioned out of mahogany, with a silky oak top.

For electronics, this guitar utilizes DiMarzio pickups, including an Air Norton humbucker in the neck position, a True Velvet single coil in the middle, and a Tone Zone humbucking pickup at the bridge. The neck humbucker provides a warm tone that doesn’t stray into muddy timbres, while the bridge humbucker offers a hot signal, wide dynamic range, and a sound developed in the bass and midrange frequencies to give the sound heft and depth. The single coil, located in the middle position, is tuned to a bright, but not thin, frequency range, thus lending sweetness to notes above the 12th fret. A five-way selector switch allows for various pickup combinations and tonal options, while a shared set of volume and tone knobs provide broad level and timbre controls.

Super Wizard HP Neck
Sporting a 17mm thickness at the first fret and a 19mm thickness at the twelfth, the Super Wizard HP Neck is quite suitable for shredders.
Birdseye Maple Fingerboard
The fingerboard has been fashioned not just from maple, but from birdseye maple, which provides an elegant look and smooth feel.
Premium Fret Edge Treatment
This model offers hand-rolled fret edges, ensuring a smooth, fast-playing neck.
Edge Tremolo Bridge
This tremolo bridge offers tuning stability, precise intonation adjustment, and playing comfort.
DiMarzio Pickups
The DiMarzio Air Norton, True Velvet, and Tone Zone pickups offer depth, warmth, and a wide dynamic range, while a 5-way pickup switch allows for many selectable timbres.
