Lenscoat lens hood cover

Great protection for your lens and fits tight over the lens hood as it should. Allows you to keep your lens hood on all the time and the cover protects lens glass from dust, scratches and weather as needed. Use them on all of my lens hoods up to a 800 mm lens. Great product

The price you pay for protecting lenses

Way too expensive for the build quality. It does not fit perfectly as it supposed to. Anyway, I recommend it for protecting your lens, but please let me know if there is another cheaper option :-).

Could be better and cheaper

The cover delivers what is promised: it protects the lens, it is made of neoprene, it is easy to install and remove. However the wholes for the AF and IS is quite small, so it is not a perfect fit. The price is way too expensive for the product. However, I could not find another protective cover for my 70-200mm, so I decided to buy it anyway (it should be effective to protect against 90% of the potential scratches). In summary, if there is no similar and cheaper product buy it.

Nice product -- but....

I like and will use this lens cover on my Canon EF 70-200 f/4L IS lens. However, I noticed there was no provision for the likelihood of having a rotating lens collar on this lens. The lens collar is sold separately by Canon for this lens. I do have such a collar, and I had to cut the rearmost piece of foam to make it fit. It still is not ideal because now the lens collar is difficult to rotate with the additional friction from the rearmost piece covering the lens collar. I noticed that the manual focusing ring is harder to turn as well for the same reason.

Um...it's just neoprene.

How do they get off charging this much for these things? If you want to protect the lens from scratches I guess you have to do something. The plastic window that covers the AF & IS switches is a hassle. They say it's easy to just use the switches through the plastic, but it's stiff, cheap plastic. No way. So I tried what the directions recommended, i.e. cutting little holes in it. But then the thing just started coming apart so I laboriously took it off with a thread picker. I don't think these are worth half the price they charge.

It ok

I guess I expected more from it. Maybe with some time I will find it better but so far the lenscoat moves around more than I expected and not sure how much it will help. Maybe in time.

This is my second purchase from LensCoat the first was extremely tight to put on, so its still on the 100-400 lens. The second is for the 670-200 - fits great and can be removed and reinstalled easily, I will be purchasing more in the near future.

Nice!

I bought this to help protect my lens as well as make it a little less obtrusive to wildlife. I have the RT-1 lens collar mounted, so it was nice to find the smaller cover segment in the package. The only downside is that the clear plastic over the VR and AF swithes makes it difficult to change settings purely by touch.
