LensCoat LC702004 Reviews

It works

I'm not sure what I expected, but this works okay. The directions, however, aren't all that helpful and could be much more helpful. But it's not rocket science and I got it installed. Note the material completely covers and hides the three buttons on the lens, making them unusable unless you find a way to mark their locations. And the area where the switches are (MF/AF, etc) are not covered at all.

This is my second purchase from LensCoat the first was extremely tight to put on, so its still on the 100-400 lens. The second is for the 670-200 - fits great and can be removed and reinstalled easily, I will be purchasing more in the near future.

Really liked the recent purchase of my lens cover. I am a cameraman for a nationally televised outdoor hunting show so I'm out in some very cold temperatures this time of the year. I received my order in a very timely manner and very happy with the quick service from B&H Photo! Thanks!

The price you pay for protecting lenses

Way too expensive for the build quality. It does not fit perfectly as it supposed to. Anyway, I recommend it for protecting your lens, but please let me know if there is another cheaper option :-).

Could be better and cheaper

The cover delivers what is promised: it protects the lens, it is made of neoprene, it is easy to install and remove. However the wholes for the AF and IS is quite small, so it is not a perfect fit. The price is way too expensive for the product. However, I could not find another protective cover for my 70-200mm, so I decided to buy it anyway (it should be effective to protect against 90% of the potential scratches). In summary, if there is no similar and cheaper product buy it.

Modify review from 4/2/20

In my first review I said if you want to use the tripod foot that I would not recommend this. I slightly modified part 6, won't say how because don't want people cutting things on my behalf, but it works well now with the foot on so, I do recommend this cover, rotating foot on or off.

It's useful, protective, with one big issue....

I like it. It fits pretty good and, of course, makes your white lens black which is the main reason I got it. It will by default protect your lens. I have to say, though, that if you want to use the lens foot you may not want to get this. I tried but it's the final piece, #6, that goes on the back end of the lens if you intend on using the foot, that does not fit well at all. The problem is where it tries to match up to the lens foot collar ring that just does not fit well. Again, I tried, but ended up going with no foot and ring and it fits well under that direction. Now, what do I do with my foot?? If it weren't for this issue I'd probably give 4.5 stars. Also, probably wait for a sale on these, as I did, as it's pretty expensive neoprene. The quality, though, is very good. When putting on just stretch it out and around. It's tough and the sewing is top notch. Nothing is going to tear, rip, unless you do something really stupid. I recommend this and will keep it on my lens. I wouldn't recommend it if you must have the lens foot on your lens.

question

Are the focus/zoom rings impeded by this cover?
Asked by: Anonymous
Properly installed, it does not. That being said, in active use, it will move and requires adjustment from time to time. The rear cover movements can make lens mounting a bit more difficult, so you may consider trimming a bit if fast mounting time is an issue for you. Despite these annoyances, I find the protection worthwhile.
