LensCoat LCT70300VM5 Reviews

Pretty good, but with some flaws

I was super excited to get my LensCoat. I do a lot of sports photography, and my gear gets banged around and on things, like doors and railings, and the occasional stray ball. I feel a lot better about accidental dings on doorways with the covering on. It also really helps with the temperature shifts, as the temperature between the cool outside air and the often warm and musty locker rooms might be a problem, especially where I live (southeast USA), where it can get quite muggy and humid, causing condensation. The neoprene material I feel is the perfect thickness for thermal insulation and functionality. There's a few problems with it though. I'm not sure if these come from the different mounts or revisions that Tamron offers and LensCoat trying to cover all of their bases, but some of the sections are a few millimeters too long, and the focus meter and AF/MF/VC switch windows are also a millimeter or two off. For that reason, I only use the body, zoom ring and hood covers. I'm getting used to it, but if LensCoat were to redevelop this product, they really need to come out with several versions, one for Canon, one for Nikon, and one for the Sony mount, and be more precise in their measurements. I considered giving this product three stars, but I feel like it deserves half of another star, so I'll err on the side of the-one-I-got-wasn't-perfect-and-they're-normally-better-about-QC review and give them four stars.
