The PRIME 850W 80 Plus Gold ATX Modular Power Supply from SeaSonic Electronics helps users achieve a good balance of efficiency, performance, and power, while its wattage range makes it suitable for heavy gaming and overclocking. This power supply features operating efficiencies of greater than 87, 90, and 87% at operating loads of 20, 50, and 100%, respectively. It can operate at temperatures of 32 to 122°F / 0 to 50°C and cooling is accomplished using a 135mm fan with a fluid dynamic bearing. Other features include a single +12V rail with 70 A / 840 W, 6 x PCIe connectors, 10 x SATA connectors, an ATX Form factor, an MTBF of 50,000 hours at 104°F / 40°C, and flat cables.

General Features

80 PLUS Gold
The efficient 80 PLUS Gold certification guarantees greater than 87, 90, and 87% efficiency at 20, 50, and 100% operating loads, respectively. The advantage of buying a power supply with 80 PLUS Gold rating is the fact that the less energy gets wasted during power conversion, the lower the operating costs will be for the user.
Fluid Dynamic Fan Bearing
High performance Fluid Dynamic Bearing (FDB) fans are designed to take advantage of the impact absorbance effects of oil. They are reliable and generate less operating noise and heat than ball bearing fans. The lubrication of the bearing surface helps reduce friction and vibration and therefore lowers the overall power consumption. Due to the quieter rotations and its robust construction, this reliable fan technology also helps increase the lifespan of the fan.
How It Works
When the fan shaft rotates, high pressure oil drifts along the grooves of the bearing sleeve to generate a thin layer of lubrication between the bearing faces. As the speed increases, so does dynamic oil pressure and the shaft is lifted from the bearing to create smooth rotations. The herringbone shape of the groves helps to efficiently channel the lubricant and avert leakage.
Premium Hybrid Fan Control
Seasonic's experience in designing silent and efficient power supplies on the market was translated into the development of Hybrid Mode; a state-of-the-art fan control that helps enable users to keep the overall fan noise at a low level.
Power Supply Sound
The Seasonic PRIME Series is designed to have very low-level acoustics with carefully selected components and innovative circuit design to help minimize sound output. Beyond rigorous internal tests, the power supply also goes through external testing with the popular graphics cards to help ensure that the sound at all loads is kept at a low level.
Micro Tolerance Load Regulation

Cable-free Connection Design
Seasonic's engineers have implemented a design feature where instead of cables, the back panel and the PCB (Printed Circuit Board) are connected by a copper plate. This solution not only lowers the chance of production errors during manual insertion but it also improves output power quality.
