Genaray UTP-30B Overview

The Genaray Ultra-Thin Bicolor 144 combines cutting-edge features with an all-aluminum, slim design for bright and efficient on-camera applications. It uses the more advanced surface-mount SMD LEDs and features a 3200-5600K adjustable color temperature, and offers a >90 TLCI/CRI color accuracy across the entire color temperature range.

With the integrated barndoors shut, the Bicolor 144 has a fully-enclosed, aluminum exterior, providing for all-around protection and an elegant aesthetic. Open the barndoors and shape the light output as you like, while the built-in diffuser softens the light and minimizes shadows.

An included shoe mount adapter with a 1/4"-20 threaded mounting hole on the bottom allows you to attach the light on your camera or light stand and tilt it into an optimal position. At the same time, a safety pin on the light ensures twist-free operation.

The Bicolor 144 also has a built-in 99-channel, 2.4 GHz receiver that allows for remote control of one or more units from up to 98 ft away using the optional Genaray MB-WRT controller.

The Bicolor 144 accepts a single NP-F L-Series battery or an AC adapter for continuous in-studio power. Both are available sold separately.

I got one of these a few months back because I needed a light for video calls. It worked so well that when it went on sale again, I picked up another one so I can have a quick two-light video kit.

does Canon LP-E6 batteries compatible to this light?
Asked by: Jack
I'm sorry to say no, it will not work with out some sort of an adapter. This is designed (as many pro-lights are) to work with the Sony "L" Series Camcorder batteries. Anton Bauer actually makes a very nice (and a better price class) battery that will fit this perfectly. Anton Bauer NP-F976 7.2V, 6600mAh L-Series Li-Ion Battery (47Wh) has been the perfect High Amperage specs.

Yes, the Genaray Ultra-Thin Bicolor 144 SMD LED On-Camera Light once turned off and later on again retains the last settings.

question

WHAT IS THE BATTERY PART NUMBER?
Asked by: rick k.
For this lamp, we suggest either Watson NP-F975 Lithium-Ion Battery Pack (7.4V, 7800mAh) B&H # WANPF975 or Sony NP-F970 L-Series Info-Lithium Battery Pack (6300mAh) B&H # SONPF970.

What softboxes can be used with this light?
Asked by: JEFFERY
We are not aware of a softbox that is compatible with this light. However since it has barn doors you could always clamp some white diffusion to them. Diffusion Sheet - https://bhpho.to/2Epc5aJ Wood Clothes Pins - https://bhpho.to/2jHfyvh

About how long will a battery last at max power ...

About how long will a battery last at max power output? I realize this depends on the charge capacity of the battery but an answer could say what capacity battery is used in the example. Thanks
Asked by: Junyong
This light has a 15 W maximum consumption. If you were using a battery like the one found in BH #DRBK1NPF6600 you should expect to get around 3 hours of power. The battery in this kit is rated for 47 Wh, which is why you should get around 3 hours at max power. https://bhpho.to/2kwAgQj

The UPT-30B doesn't include an AC adapter, why not?
Asked by: Brian
This is actually a good thing. If you already have NP-F chargers and batteries, you can just buy the unit itself and save money on not having to buy more useless accessories that you already have. Also, you can choose your own size NP-F batteries instead of the default low capacity ones that usually come with such lights which don't last long.
