Develop the ability to see the various properties of light, and learn the controls and features of on-camera flash units, in this second edition of the Speedliter's Handbook: Learning to Craft Light with Canon Speedlites. In this e-book from Peachpit Press, author Syl Arena teaches you about light and color and shows you how to use all the buttons and dials on the whole family of Canon Speedlites.

Study vintage models like the 550EX, as well as the radio-enabled 600EX-RT and the ST-E3 Transmitter. As a bonus, Mr. Arena includes a downloadable online supplement on the more recent 430EX III-RT. He also covers updated best practices and workflows to help you make the most of your Canon gear.

The book will allow you to develop an understanding of the basics of on-camera flash and the benefits of using your Speedlite off-camera. Additionally, it will reveal how to balance flash and ambient light for stunning effects. You'll also discover ways to create beautiful images with a single Speedlite or up to a dozen at once, so you'll be prepared for everything from intimate portraits to large group shots.

Syl goes on to teach you how to choose the right flash mode for the job, be it E-TTL, manual, multi, or another option, and how to select the right setting in your camera's exposure mode menu. Benefit from a lesson in taming the sun and other bright lights with the high-speed sync setting, and learn how to use color gels to balance hues and create dramatic effects.
