Vanguard Alta Sky 45D Overview

Store, protect, and transport a pro DSLR with attached 70-200 f/2.8, 2 to 3 extra lenses, flash, related items, and an externally attached drone with the dark gray Alta Sky 45D Camera Backpack from Vanguard. Inside the backpack is a padded sleeve for an up to 13" laptop or tablet. This pack features interior and exterior pockets, and large water bottle side pockets. Locating gear in low light is easier thanks to the bright yellow interior lining and padded, touch-fastening dividers.

Use the exterior straps to attach a tripod or other item. Carry the pack by the top handle and strap, or wear with the padded shoulder harness and chest connector. For added comfort, reduced fatigue, and improved stability, the pack has a generously padded waist belt with quick release buckle. The thick air mesh back panel helps cushion impact and increases cooling airflow. A total coverage rain cover is included.

It's a good bag,well made but it's too hard. Not confortable to carry and although is a very big bag it doesn't have much space for the equipment. Also is heavy.

Have had this bag for a little over a year and a half, daily driver, so it's gotten some wear for sure. The configuration and design almost perfect for my usage, and almost everything screams quality on this bag...EXCEPT a few months ago the side access compartment zipper started to burst and would only zip about half way. After just over a year? I expect a bag of this so called quality to have much better quality zippers than that, YKK or something equivalent, they went super cheap on these zippers. Now the zipper is completely busted and flapping open. I notice this bag is considerably cheaper than when I bought mine. Contacted Vanguard and told me they would repair the zipper if I mailed it in. No replacement or credit, so I have to purchase another bag while they repair the garbage zipper. So after this experience and having to purchase a new bag I will probably just toss this or just stash somewhere in case I feel like fixing the zipper myself sometime and move on from Vanguard. VERY disappointed.

I don't know why, but finding the best all mighty bag is just an impossible quest. This bag is really nice and is definitely well built but just a few things keep it from being great. The zipper for the main compartment being in the back is a pain and the straps get in the way. Wish it wasn't so annoying but it really is. Also, the fact that you can't remove the waist harness is a bummer. The side zipper compartment is nice for quick access to a camera, but it is too tight to grab mine with or without the battery grip (Canon R5). Is it a well built bag, absolutely, its just not perfect and not sure how much it will be used.

I love this bag. It’s not too large but I can put my Sony a6600, lens , extra film camera, gimbal DJI ronin sc and I also have a space for lunch or my new drone in the future. Quality is amazing, I can recommended this bag

Do-all backpack and perfect size!

Plenti of room and lots of access options (top, rear, side, bottom front). This bag feels well made overall and comes with a rain cover. Lots of customization for all access areas. It can carry a tripod in a couple of ways (although quickly becomes back heavy vs not having the tripod attached (as I found on the back). I am still trying to find out what I actually need so this one made a great choice having so many options and big enough without being too large. The only thing I would like to see is the bottom clips to be out of the way when unzipping to the bottom compartment and for all the clips to be of higher quality. They work perfectly but do not feel as robust as the rest of the bag. I am 6' and found this bag out of the box too small and tight, but can quickly adjust to a perfect fit as I found adjusting the straps! I do like how most of the strap tails can be tucked into pockets out of the way. Nice Bag!

This backpack exceeded expectations. I spent a lot of time researching packs before I purchased, watching videos, reading reviews and measuring my gear. I found that this pack met all my current needs and it is reconfigurable so as my needs change the pack will still be usable. I like that if I get a drone I can carry that without getting a whole new pack, there are a couple of options for how to carry a tripod ( I particularly like that it can be centered on the back and not carried on the side giving me a place to put a water bottle). The pack seems very durable and it seems like it should last for years. When you first pick it up it feels a bit heavy, however, qit feels very light when on the shoulders. I have had it for about 2 weeks now, and have hiked about 20 miles with it, and biked another 40 miles with it on, and it is very comfortable.

As a landscape photographer, I had been on the hunt for a bag that was comfortable, relatively light-weight, and flexible enough to allow me to bring along all of my equipment for quite a while. My search ended with this bag. It is well padded, with good ergonomics, and has enough storage for my Nikon Z7, all 3 of my trinity zooms, my glass filter set, a tripod, as well as a DJI Mini 2, controller, spare batteries, and a landing pad. This bag really does it all! Very underrated and truly the only bag that has been able to do all of that for me!

Different planes have different requirements. I would recommend calling the airline and telling them this bag measures 19.5 x 12.25 x 9" and see if the plane you are taking it would fit under the seat.

I would have to say, I have not seen camera bag volume ever listed in any manner. Here are the exterior dimensions. By minor subtraction of each dimension, you can ascertain the interior dimensions and if you wish to calculate it, a rough idea of the volume in liters. 12.25 x 9 x 19.5 / 31.11 x 22.86 x 49.53 cm

what waist size does the waist strap fit. I am a petite female and with less than a 30 inch waist find that many backpacks at the tightest setting are still too loose?

From testing with one of the bags at the store, at its tightest/the shortest extension, the waist straps measured a circumference of 75cm / 29.56" and its longest/loosest, it measured 166cm / 65.3". These measurements were done with a measuring tape, but could be off a few centimeters/fractions of an inch.
