AOC AG271QG overview

  • 1Description

Offering four times the resolution of a standard 720p monitor, the AG271QG 27" 16:9 NVIDIA G-SYNC LCD Gaming Monitor from AOC features a QHD 2560 x 1440 resolution along with a 165 Hz refresh rate and NVIDIA G-SYNC technology built right into the display. With a 165 Hz refresh rate users benefit from a more responsive display to reduce ghosting and blur while the NVIDIA G-SYNC functionality syncs the monitor to your computers GeForce GTX graphics card for an even smoother, sharper gaming experience. AOC has also included their own Shadow Control feature, which helps lighten dark areas on the screen to help you see darker areas within your game.

Setup and configuration of the AOC AG271QG is simple as it comes equipped with both HDMI and DisplayPort inputs. In addition to multimedia inputs, this display comes equipped with four USB 3.0 ports to connect peripherals such as hard drives, mice, and keyboards directly to the monitor. Once configured this IPS (In-Plane Switching) panel offers enhanced 178° horizontal and vertical viewing angles along with flicker-free technology to reduce eye fatigue by virtually eliminating all flicker from within the display.

Quad High Definition on a Widescreen
With AOC's AG271QG, you can enjoy Quad HD at an enhanced 2560 x 1440 resolution. With Quad HD, you get four times the resolution of 720p HD; essentially you can fit four 720p HD videos on the screen at the same time. A Quad HD on a 27-inch widescreen allows you to view greater detail with more spacing, in crisp and vivid visuals. Whether editing photos, videos, or watching movies, AG271QG gives you clarity with quality on a widescreen.
165 Hz Refresh Rate
This AOC display features 165 Hz refresh rate, effectively faster than a standard display. A lower frame rate can make enemies appear to jump from spot to spot on the screen, making them difficult targets to hit. With 165 Hz frame rate, you get those critical missing images on the screen which shows enemy movement in ultra smooth motion so you can easily target them.
Fast 4 ms Response Time
A 4 ms response time means you get to enjoy fast-moving actions without worrying about image smearing or ghosting that occurs with slow response time.
NVIDIA G-SYNC Technology
NVIDIA G-SYNC is the solution that synchronizes the display's refresh rates to the GPU in your GeForce GTX-powered PC to eliminate screen tearing and minimize display stutter and input lag, in order to provide a smooth and fast gaming experience.
Flicker-Free Technology for Reduced Eye Fatigue
Normal LED-backlit monitors adjust brightness using PWM (Pulse Width Modulation). This causes flicker although human eyes can't see it easily, it still causes discomfort over long periods of time. Flicker-free technology is using DC (Direct Current) backlight system to provide more comfortable and healthy viewing.
AOC Shadow Control
For gamers, it is important to have the best visibility especially for the dark areas on screen. With AOC's Shadow Control, gamers can dial-in shadow levels in the on-screen display menu to increase contrast for better dark areas without affecting the rest of the screen. This AG271QG display offers 3 levels to adjust the dark portions.

    AOC AG271QG reviews

    AG271QG 27" 16:9 NVIDIA G-SYNC LCD Gaming Monitor is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Oooh that 2k IPS goodness Great picture and color quality. My games look amazing and the G-SYNC is smooooth has butter. Doesn't have any backlight bleed but there is some IPS glow but overall not bad. I would highly recommend this monitor. For those wondering, the thing sticking out on the back side is to hang your headset. Nice little bonus. Pros: 2k resolution, G-SYNC, IPS panel, 165 hz refresh, slim bezel Cons: YUGE power brick

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great monitor, needs some tweaking to get the best out of i Pro Gsync and fast sync are amazing combo IPS panel 144hz refresh rate 165hz refresh rate with overclock Great color reproduction Good build quality Cheapest 2560x1440 IPS Gsync overclocked monitor on market Onboard speakers Tilt and vertical adjustments AHVA panel G-sync works from 30hz-165hz 3 year warranty Con Large external power brick Aluminum stand takes up quite a bit of space Backlight bleed (see other thoughts) Really needs to be calibrated before use Only DP will allow for any response rate higher than 60hz. Other Thoughts I purchased this monitor elsewhere as Newegg was out of stock of this model when I needed to make a purchase, however I thought that it made sense to post my review here as well to potentially help other buyers. I have been using 2560x1440 monitors for the last 5 years and my first was an IPS Dell and after this I purchased an overclocked IPS monitor from Overlord that I was able to overclock to 90hz. I use my PC for gaming and currently run with a Ryzen 1700 at 4.0ghz, MSI Carbon Pro motherboard, 16gb Flare X PC 3200 ram and MSI GTX 1080 at 2100mhz. The upgrade from 2560x1440 at 60hz to 2560x1440 at 90hz was quite the upgrade believe it or not, games felt more responsive and snappy, but anything over 90hz produced tearing and with a GTX 1080 this happened quite a bit. I tweaked most games so that I ran as close to 90fps as possible in order to reduce tearing, but I have had my eyes on adaptive Sync technology for some time and have been looking for a good deal in a 144hz monitor. I was thinking of selling the GTX 1080 and waiting for Vega in order to go with a cheaper Freesync monitor, but I picked up this monitor when it was recently on sale and literally $20 more expensive than the Freesync version that came with TN panel and adaptive sync up to 90 hz only! Buying this was a no-brainer, even with the recent price increase it is still incredibly good value. Some observations: The monitor came well packed and was easy to put together, the aluminum stand takes up quite a bit of desktop and I find myself bumping in to it occasionally with my mouse. The external power brick is huge, but was easy enough to tuck away from sight. The stand can be adjusted for height, tilt and swivel and the monitor can be used in landscape or portrait mode. When it was powered on for the first time I noticed the backlight bleed and screen uniformity and was initially disappointed as the backlight bleed was noticeable on the black screen, however this diminished considerably once I started to calibrate the monitor and I no longer notice the backlight bleed at all. I have looked at 2560x1440 144hz gsync monitors for the last couple of years and they are all built around the same AHVA panel and all suffer from similar backlight bleed, so to be honest I kind of expected this. No dead pixels on this monitor and after calibration the colors and gamma put this monitor in a league of its own. First thing first, the apparent backlight bleed noticed on a pure black screen appears worse than it is as the monitor ships and displays an over-bright image. This can be quickly corrected by lowering the brightness. I calibrate to 200cd/m2 which equates to around 68 on this monitor. All monitors are different, so if you have no calibration tools adjust at or around this 68 value to reduce the apparent backlight bleed. The color needed some work, to display its best, I tweaked the settings by adjusting color temp to red49, green 47 and blue 49 in the user color settings. I also found that Gamma 2 preset worked best for my particular monitor. I set overclock to on and at max 165hz and set overdrive to medium and finally left contrast to 50. The monitor requires a reboot to retain the overclock settings, so I pulled the power on the monitor after setting the overclock. When the monitor rebooted I checked the settings on the bottom of the screen and they showed gsync on and overclock correctly set at 165hz. Make sure that you confirm this before tweaking in windows. I rebooted the pc and re-installed my Nvidia drivers using clean install option and once done I was able to set both gsync and fast sync and set a refresh rate of 165hz that I confirmed using UFO Frame Test. The results are stunning; gaming has never felt so responsive or more immersive. I have seen no tearing at all, the colors are amazing and the refresh rate of 165hz blows me away. I have re-tweaked my games so that I now get 165hz or as close as possible by reducing the video settings in games like BF1 as I prefer to play multiplayer with the fastest possible response time rather than having all the eye candy turned up, thats just me though. No point having a 165hz refresh rate and not taking advantage of it! I really like this monitor, the backlight bleed is present but not that bad once brightness levels and color profile is tweaked a little. I now only notice the backlight bleed when the screen is completely black and that is not often. The 3 year warranty is nice and the price, although expensive, gives great value considering the usable refresh rates, IPS panel and g-sync.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2K, IPS, 165hz, MONSTER I finally have a monitor that can truly showcase my gaming computers performance. Absolute beast of a monitor, literally no screen tearing or motion blur when using G-SYNC. I am blown away at how much better the image looks on this monitor over my old loaner 2K IPS monitor! Playing bf4, bf1, pubg, etc. at 165hz is almost life like! 4ms response time is very noticeable, I feel like I have much more control over my character since the refresh and response times are so high. Dramatically increased my K/D on the first match I played on bf4! Went 40 and 2! (On ultra settings at 1440p) Pros: 165hz, 4ms response time, 2K IPS picture quality (compared to a TN panel of the same res.), heavy duty stand with simple assembly, very nice design, loads of USB ports on monitor (for charging your phone or headset etc.), G-SYNC (trust me if you see a monitor with G-SYNC in person you will be sold immediately, stunning visuals coupled with life like motion/control make for an intense gaming experience!), Price is slightly better than other similar monitors (most of the manufactures use the exact same IPS panel so why spend more?), and desktop performance has improved as well (I adjusted the desktop refresh rate and noticed a huge improvement with mouse accuracy and internet page browsing, VERY smooth feel to it.) Cons: General packaging by BandH wasnt that great, its a pretty heavy box and the packaging material used wasnt really meant for something this size or weight. The box that was used was also not the right thickness and didnt fair well going across the united states. I did notice the back light bleed and I have a feeling shipping might have something to do with it? As far as the back light bleed goes, its definitely not noticeable when playing games or general computer use. I read other reviews that said the color accuracy wasn't very good, they are right for the most part, after I first hooked it up and turned it on I noticed the colors were washed out, a simple change to the Nvidia settings fixed it. I turned the digital vibrance up and it looks much much better, if not amazing. Most of the cons Ive read out on other reviews are either fixable or not noticeable without really looking into it. And lastly I would have to say the actual screen adjustment window is fairly poor, as well as the install instructions (very small pictures but easy monitor assembly) Also lacking important G-Sync info (use the display port instead of the HDMI). My computer specs: Ryzen 7 1700 Overclocked to 3.9 liquid cooled EVGA 1080ti SC2 Hybrid MSI Gaming Plus motherboard 32gb Corsair Vengeance 3000mhz DDR4 Samsung 512gb ssd Plays pretty much every game at 150fps+ (ultra settings and 2K res.)
