Really Right Stuff LCF-11 Overview

The LCF-11 Replacement Foot from Really Right Stuff attaches directly to the lens collar and locks into place by tightening the knob. The lens foot is made with a double dovetail design, which adds a quick release functionality to the bottom of the foot.

The replacement foot is compatible with most Arca-type clamps, and the double dovetail allows accessories to attach to the bottom or the top of the foot. By replacing the foot originally supplied, it gives the lens a lower profile and a lower center of gravity, therefore, it has a better balance when the lens is placed on a gimbal-type head.

The lens foot is CNC machined from a single block of 6061-T6 aluminum, and has a type-II black anodizing, which makes the foot resistant against scratches and corrosion. Located on the bottom of the foot are two safety stops, which prevents it from accidentally pulling the lens when the ball head clamp is partially open.

Replaces Nikon's original lens collar foot and provides a lower profile and a lower center of gravity for a better balance

I bought this for the Integrated QD (Quick Detach) socket

Others have criticized the quick release mechanism on the original foot and the RRS foot has the same mechanism. That being said, I take extra precautions by wearing a camera strap and using a safety tether. If the foot were to accidentally release (which would mean that the wheel would not be tight AND accidentally hitting the release latch) my tether to the camera would prevent the lens from hitting the ground. Anyway, this foot has the integrated QD socket which is how I attach my camera strap. It makes carrying this lens so much easier and taking stress away from a heavy lens pulling on the camera ring.

Works great on the 500 f/5.6 pf. Why can't Nikon offer this in the first place?

Excellent replacement foot

I replaced the OEM foot on my Nikkor AF-S 70~200 F2.8E FL ED VR lens with the RRS LCF-11 foot. There are definite advantages. It is designed and manufactured Arca-Swiss compatible. When compared to adding an Arca-Swiss compatible lens plate to Nikon's foot, overall height is reduced by 12/32 with the LCF-11, lowering the center of gravity. Also, the length of the LCF-11 is longer by 1 18/32, improving positioning options when using a gimbal head. Construction is of the highest grade, using only the finest materials, and, comes with a five-year warranty. I have yet to need any warranty service on any product from RRS. Some of my equipment dates back to the early 90s. I highly recommend the LCF-11.

There are less expensive versions of this replacement foot....but not better. Precisely machined. Keeps my 70-200 f2.8G VR tightly secured on either my Arca-Swiss type monopod or tripod heads.

The Nikon feet that come with the 500PF f4 and 70-200 f2.8 lenses are a total waste of time. Why Nikon cannot change to an Arca Swiss model like this infuriates me. I tossed them back in the box and bought this foot which works almost perfectly. Almost because if you don't keep the nut tightened and carry the lens using this as a handle, your fingers end up pressing the disconnect and you could find your lens on the ground. Hence only the 4 stars. I'm still happy with it despite this flawed design. So far the nut does not loosen and I've not had an accident.

The stock foot is very far inferior to this replacement. Not sure why Nikon sells this lens with foot prone to fall off. Save yourself an expensive lens repair and replace the existing foot immediately.

This is not the correct foot for that lens. For that lens you need the Really Right Stuff Collar Foot Package for Nikon AF-S 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR Lens linked here. https://bhpho.to/3uCRABA. This will work fine on the Wimberley.
