The component input also acts as a hybrid port, which allows you to connect a composite video source instead. Three USB ports are also onboard for connecting compatible multimedia peripherals like flash drives.

Note:
Content acquired via certain apps may require subscription to a service.
Enhanced Detail with 4K HDR
Combined with 4K Ultra HD resolution, HDR (High Dynamic Range) video content delivers enhanced detail, color, and contrast, with a wider range of brightness than other video formats for a more lifelike picture.
TRILUMINOS Display for Extra Colors
TRILUMINOS displays are designed to selectively map colors across a wider gamut, ensuring subtle colors do not become oversaturated and unnatural for vivid, authentic images.
4K X-Reality PRO Further Enhances Detail
Individual parts of each scene are analyzed and matched with an image database that independently addresses texture, contrast, color, and edges to provide more lifelike detail.
Integrated Cable Management
All of your cables can be neatly arranged across the back of the TV and channeled into the stand, so everything looks tidy.
Android TV Operating System
Enjoy many of your favorite smartphone and tablet experiences on the big screen. Android TV with advanced voice control lets you connect and access content, from movies and TV shows to thousands of apps, simply by talking.
Motionflow XR Digital Image Enhancement
Motionflow XR is designed to create and insert extra frames between the original ones. It compares key visual factors on successive frames, then calculates the split second of missing action in the sequences.
Say What You Want to See with Voice Search
Voice search on Android TV provides you with the power of Google search, allowing you to find content across different services without the hassle of time-consuming text entry. You can also get recommendations; asking for a specific genre brings up a list of suitable options.
Content Bar Helps You Find Everything
The Content Bar is designed to quickly let you find the movie, TV show, or video you're looking for while remaining unobtrusive. Call up the Content bar and you can keep watching, while you scan through live TV, videos on demand, downloaded TV shows, and more. You can even customize it to show you the content you go to most often first.
Chromecast built-in is Compatible with Your Other Devices
The XBR-X800E features Chromecast built-in, so you can cast your favorite compatible entertainment app, such as YouTube or Netflix, from your Android, iOS, or your laptop onto the screen.
Google Play: Access Content and Apps
Discover movies, TV shows, games, and more from Google Play. Enjoy an ever-growing choice of compatible apps on your TV.
ClearAudio+ for More Lifelike Audio
ClearAudio+ is designed to fine-tune TV sound for an immersive experience that seems to surround you. Hear music, dialogue, and surround effects with enhanced clarity and separation.
DSEE Restores Detail to Your Digital Music
Low-resolution Internet video, catch-up TV, and other heavily compressed audio files don't always sound great because a large amount of information gets lost when digital audio is compressed. With Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) technology, lost frequency components, particularly high frequencies, are restored for more natural sound.
Clear Phase for Smooth, Balanced Frequencies
The XBR-X800E-series uses a computer model to analyze and compensate for inaccuracies in speaker response by "sampling" the speaker frequency. This information is fed back to cancel out any peaks or dips in the speaker's natural response for more pure, natural audio with smooth reproduction of all frequencies.
Cinematic S-Force Front Surround
S-Force Front Surround is designed to mimic the way the brain correlates sound sources to create proper volume, time lag, and sound wave spectrum using only left and right speaker channels. By emulating three-dimensional sound fields, you'll enjoy high-fidelity audio across a wider listening area.
The IR Blaster Lets You Control Everything with One Remote
The infrared (IR) blaster lets you control other devices in your home, such as your cable box, from your Sony TV remote.
Enrich Your Viewing with the TV SideView App
Find, record, and discuss your favorite TV shows using the TV SideView app. Use your Android or iOS tablet or smartphone to see the latest TV schedule as well as view the most popular programs currently trending. Once you've found what you want to watch, you can set an alarm so you never miss the shows you love. Livetweet your reactions and see what other viewers are saying.

Outstanding for Its Purpose

We use this TV hanging from the ceiling in the bedroom. The video is great! Audio is what can be expected from smaller speakers, but they sound just fine to us. The menu is easy to navigate, and we certainly employ the Sleep Timer.

I have had this television for 2 years and just took it out the box 5 months ago the television went out today it won't power on at all! My Sony XBR 55X800E went off today and would not come on. I checked the power cord and power outlet all are working fine with other devices. I trying plugging into another outlet and still would not come on. I'm pretty mad because I only been using this television for 5 months it brand new and goes out.

I bought this TV about 2 years ago. After a factory software update, I can't turn on the TV even after all the support articles and online help from sony. I used to buy Sony exclusively in my household, I'm going to look for more reliable.

Great experience...!

Awesome Sony TV!

This TV is awesome however the downside is the providers of content. Netflix seems to occasionally appear grainy on this this. It isn't a problem with the TV really, perhaps maybe picture adjustments. Nonetheless I hope Sony releases an update which auto resolutes with Netflix content, so it doesn't appear grainy occasionally. The TV though is superb quality. Playing videogames on this with an Xbox One X, displays the clean crisp picture you desire. If you're not into videogames though (which help you take advantage of the motion blur technology this delivers), play any really visually appealing film. The film I first noticed the colors really pop and were stunning was "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2" via HBO. Really most films via HBO were absolutely stunning! This isn't an HBO plug, however it is something to note given Netflix appears grainy. So the TV itself is not an issue really here when it comes to picture quality. All in all, I really recommend this 4K UHD TV. I happen to not utilize the PS4 often BUT it does seamlessly function with this Sony TV, which is awesome. I do utilize a 2.1 channel Sony sound bar, from a previous TV. The sound bar is great quality still, with no hiccups and sounds awesome paired with this Sony 4K UHD TV! The 55" picture is just the right size for a bedroom setting and possibly family room. This is upgrading from a 43" for the bedroom, which I thought was big at the time. Of course this TV packs usual updates from Sony which has noticeably modified and improved the UI of the Android platform. The menus are nice and easy to set-up and/or configure programs of interest. I really don't see myself upgrading from this TV anytime soon. It delivers so much and the only obvious next upgrade would be to go OLED from Sony. HOWEVER, OLED has its pros and cons too while a variety of better TVs are manufactured annually. What I'm saying is, this Sony 55" 4K UHD TV is worth your time. I just hope Netflix improves their software and/or Sony does with picture playback via Netflix. You will not be disappointed with this Sony 4K UHD TV at all. The quality is there and lasts!

Does not work well with Control 4 remote system in all apps. Also, needs to be unplugged way too often to clear internet issues.

How long will the Sony XBR-800E Series 55 be offered for $798.00? Why is there a sales tax added when I try to checkout? I thought there were no taxes outside of New York and NJ.
