Great lens for the money. Images are sharp, feels sturdy. It's a little loud but image quality is good so ill take a little noise

Had to send the first one back

It's okay. I sent the first one back to B & H because the motor in the AF gave out after about an hour of testing. They were certainly good about that and rushed me a replacement. Overall, I'd say the lens is okay. Sharpness isn't always consistent. It has it's sweet spots. 5.6 to 11

Good lens and they give you a cute lil satchel for it.

The lens is good for its price. Fits perfectly. Works exactly as described and as you would expect from an 85mm lens, and Yongnuo, like other companies, have decided that it's a smart practice to include a little satchel for your lens so you don't have to buy one.

Spend a little more and get the Nikon f1.8 D.

I bought this lens from Amazon, sent it back twice and then sent it back period, end of story!! Why? It's not a total dog lens it's just not that great of a lens as far as the focus motor. I know AFS is great and all Silent wave but they are not going to last long as the old screw drive lenses. And when they break you are going to shell out the cash to get it fixed or they will not have the parts available in ten years. My suggestion is by the Nikon AF D 85mm f1.8 and all its little peeves used ones sell for a little more than this and they have been around since the 90s. This is just another lens waiting to go wrong.

Meet my expectation

I read some mixed reviews on this lens before purchasing it. The main complains were about its slowness and noisiness during auto focus. After using it for my recent trip, I found that the noise is tolerable, especially being used outdoors. The auto focus is fairly quick and accurate, and the manual override during auto focus is a good plus. The build quality and the image quality are both good, as many reviewer suggested.

Will this work with mc 11 adaptor?
Asked by: Gnzo
I love the shots I get with this lens. As long as the MC-11 is for Canon EF-mount lenses then, it should definitely fit. Though, I'm not sure how the Yongnuo brand will react to being adapted. I've never tried this myself.

question

Is it sharp as the canon ef 85mm 1.8?
Asked by: Shagufta R.
The performance is of the Yongnuo is comparable to the Canon. So much so you may not see any difference in the images unless you are very experienced and know what to look for. Both lenses are entry level therefore so lens performance is compromised to some degree as compared to higher quality lenses. And of course build quality-wise you get what you pay for. In the end, I would say the Yongnuo is good for light use and the Canon for moderate use.

does this lens work with a nikon d3500?
Asked by: andrew
Yes it does. I have personally used the lens on a d3400, d3500, d5100, d5200, d5300, and a d850 with absolutely no issues. On the 850 it is a 85mm because of it being a full frame. On the others it has an effective focal length of 127.5 as otherwise stated.

question

Does the autofocus works in live focus mode?
Asked by: Shagufta R.
No!!!!! It worked slowly and eventually got there but ultimately ruined the lens. This happened two month after buying the lens. I now own a manual focus ONLY lens. Yongnuo would not honor the 1 year warranty.
