Utilizing an ingenious spring-folded assembly design to hold it securely in place, the 2-pack of Daystar Filters 50mm White-Light Universal Lens Solar Filters allows you to safely view or photograph the sun and solar eclipses. The ULF is offered here in a 2-pack for safe solar viewing with binoculars, or multiple optics and lenses without having to move the filter. They are made of the 12312-2 ISO-certified SOLARITE film, which blocks more than 99.999% of intense light, plus 100% of harmful IR and UV radiation — revealing sunspots and super granules on the solar surface. Made to fit on the front of camera lenses, telescopes, spotting scopes, binoculars or other optics and imaging devices, this version of the ULF can accommodate housings, sunshades, and dew shields with an outside diameter from 65-89mm (2.55-3.50"). The filter has a clear aperture of 70mm, so vignetting may occur when used on lenses and optics that approach the maximum recommended diameter in the size range.
- Safe Solar Viewing and Photography

Warning: Viewing the Sun without proper protection can cause permanent eye damage, blindness, and equipment damage. Always use an approved ISO 12312-2 certified solar filter when observing the Sun through optics or cameras. Never use photographic neutral density filters for direct solar viewing, viewing the sun through an optic, or when using cameras with an optical viewfinder.

Needed this larger size, excellent filter
I've gotten excellent solar photos with this filter in the past, especially with the eclipse in 2017. Since then I have a camera (Nikon P950) with a larger lens, so I needed a larger size. I was worried when I put this one together as the filter itself was not as flat as my previous one. But it works just fine.
Worked like a charm!
Got super lucky weather wise in TN for the eclipse. This item was the right choice for me (first time astrophotographer) Easy to assemble and worked perfectly!
Very disappointed.
This filter -- while obviously designed to mount on a lens, and, presumptively (absent any indication to the contrary) suitable for a camera lens, appears to be about 2/3rds of a stop too dense -- ie, suitable for direct (eyeball) observation but less so for camera use. Worse, the internal surface of the filter material interacts with reflections from the camera lens outer-most element thus damaging the images recorded using it.
Worked well
Amazingly, these work well. I wasn't to sure, but I didn't want to spend $150+ on a filter with limited uses.
Bigger than stated
I bought these for a set of 9x63 binoculars with outside diameter on 80mm, but they are not true to size and were too large and do not contract to fit. So I used one on a larger diameter camera lens, and shared the other to a friend for the same purpose. The photos were awesome.
Will buy again
Very good results using on 100-400mm canon lens. included in comments on my 50mm purchase.
One time use filter
Easily damaged
Worked Great for the Eclipse in Oregon
Did as advertised. I wasn't going to spend well over $100 for a 'one time' event so this one fit the bill perfectly. I shared the 'two pack' with a buddy and both of us were pleased we found this one. Now after capturing 'sun spots' before the eclipse as well, I'll get a little more use out of it and not just put it away.
