Steiner 5840 overview

  • 1Description

Designed with a moderate magnification and large objectives, the Steiner Optics 7x50 Military-Marine Binocular is an ideal choice for hunters, outdoor enthusiasts, and boaters. The power and aperture combination translates to a wide field of view and an impressive exit pupil that helps to mitigate the disorientation common when looking through binoculars on rolling or rough water, or the appearance of the visible hand shake associated with high-power optics. Its traditional Porro prism optical path provides a rich depth of field to clearly see the difference between near and distant objects, while a proprietary floating prism system absorbs the force from drops or knocks to protect the prisms and their alignment.

For ease of use, the Military-Marine is outfitted with Steiner's Sports-Auto-Focus system, which enables each eyepiece to be individually focused to ensure the sharpest views possible. Its rubber eyecups mold themselves to the user's eye sockets to keep stray peripheral light from interfering with the viewing experience. The chassis is made of Makrolon polycarbonate, which is corrosion, impact, and temperature resistant, and the optical tubes are nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to be water and fogproof even in extreme weather conditions. Whether in the wild outdoors or on the rolling seas, the Military-Marine binocular will be your constant companion for all your glassing needs.

Optical Performance
  • Moderate 7x magnification
  • Large 50mm objective lenses
  • Traditional Porro prism optical path provides a rich depth of field versus similar roof prisms
  • Proprietary floating prism system uses flexible silicone mount to absorb severe shocks and impacts to limit or eliminate damage
  • 302' field of view at 1000 yards
  • Exceptionally wide 7.1mm exit pupil ensures complete pupil coverage when fully dilated in low light to eliminate vignetting
Use and Handling
  • Sports-Auto-Focus System: Individually focusable eyepieces ensure precise tack-sharp focus for any user
  • 60-70mm interpupillary distance adjustment range
  • Fold-down rubber eyecups for comfortable use with or without eyewear
  • When up, the eyecups seal into eye sockets to reduce peripheral light interference, which can reduce image brightness
Construction Details
  • Impact and corrosion-resistant Makrolon polycarbonate chassis
  • Chassis' temperature resistance ensures it stays a comfortable handling temperature in cold or wet conditions, while resisting the expansion and contraction common with metal chassis that can cause the optical components to move out of alignment over time
  • Nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof and resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme temperature changes
  • Tethered objective lens covers and one-piece ocular rainguard included
