With a large 6TB storage capacity, the d2 Thunderbolt 3 Desktop Drive from LaCie is great for storing large photo and video projects, saving documents, archiving data, and much more. Connecting the drive to your computer is simple as it comes equipped with dual Thunderbolt 3 ports and a single USB 3.1 port offering maximum data transfer rates of up to 240 MB/s. With the d2 Thunderbolt 3, the ports don't just transfer your data. You can utilize the USB-C port to charge compatible USB-C computers and even daisy chain dual 4K displays, a single 5K display, or a total of six LaCie d2 drives to your computer using the dual Thunderbolt 3 ports. All of this can be accomplished while keeping your workspace quiet, thanks to the solid aluminum unibody construction of the LaCie d2 Thunderbolt 3 Desktop Drive.

BarraCuda Pro Dependability
The LaCie d2 features a Seagate BarraCuda Pro enterprise-class drive for enhanced reliability and performance.
Thunderbolt 3: Power and Versatility
From a single port, you get enhanced bandwidth with the versatility of the USB-C industry standard. For the LaCie d2 Thunderbolt 3, the result is performance up to 240 MB/s for creative workflows, wide compatibility, and time-saving device configurations.
Faster transfers mean less time moving files from camera cards into Adobe Lightroom-and more time filling camera cards with new photos and footage.
Laptop Charging
It's even possible to power a compatible laptop through a USB-C (Thunderbolt 3 or USB 3.1) port. That's one less cable cluttering up your desktop.
Daisy Chaining
Thanks to dual Thunderbolt 3 ports, you can daisy chain dual 4K displays, a single 5K display, or six LaCie d2 drives, all through a single cable connected to your computer.
Forged from a single sheet of aluminum, the enclosure provides uncommon rigidity for long-term durability.
The whisper-quiet fan and heat-dissipating aluminum enclosure pull heat away from the HDD, keeping it running fast and healthy.
Whether you have a PC or a Mac, with USB-C, USB 3.0, Thunderbolt 3, or Thunderbolt 2, this drive is compatible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Fast Drive I really love this drive. It is fast. If you are looking for a 1 cable solution from your MacBook Pro to all your peripherals, you will need a Thunderbolt3 dock either from Kensington or OWC. The LaCie D2 drive will NOT charge your MacBook Pro as it only puts out 15Watts through the Thunderbolt3 ports.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It works...ok I find one bug. If I use the thunderbolts 3 port and connect it to my MacBook Pro, my MacBook Pro can’t find the hard drive if my MacBook Pro is not connect to a power supply... If you want to use the faster thunderbolt 3 port, make sure you connect your MacBook to a power supply. One more thing to point out is this drive doesn’t have automatically shutdown function.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet, high-speed data transfer! I’m a photographer and this LaCie is my working drive. It contains 80,000 RAW files. The Thunderbolt 3 connection allows me to work with no delays using a MacBook Pro with Lightroom Classic CC and Photoshop. Additionally, the 2nd Thunderbolt connection is used to power my Apple 27” monitor. Awesome performance!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great hard drive - plenty of space and speed The drive is plug and play. It's a little confusing at first when it asks how you want to set it up - 1 partition or 2? But after that it was smooth sailing. My ONLY comment is the blue light on the front is very, very bright. One of these drives is next to my computer in my bedroom at a desk in the corner. I have to place a t-shirt each night in front of the light as it could keep me up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small and compact external drive. I am very pleased so far with my LaCie 6TB external hard drive. It has plenty of memory and is small and takes up very little room on my desk. I have a large collection of CD's that I'm going to copy and put on this drive so the songs will be more readily available and usable. I also have many, many photographs that I'll be storing there.
