Experience the innovative interface of the Touch Bar in the late 2016 space gray Apple 15.4" MacBook Pro with Touch Bar.

The Touch Bar places controls right at your fingertips and adapts to different apps to provide useful functions without having to navigate complex menus or memorize keyboard shortcuts. Replacing the function keys in the top row of the keyboard, the Touch Bar features a Retina-quality display and supports multi-touch input.

The power button has been upgraded with a Touch ID sensor, so you can quickly log into your MacBook Pro using your fingerprint. You can also use Touch ID to make purchases over the web, thanks to Apple Pay. Touch ID enables a quick, accurate reading of your fingerprint and uses sophisticated algorithms to recognize and match it with the Secure Enclave in the Apple T1 chip.

The system features a 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7 quad-core processor, 16GB of 2133 MHz LPDDR3 onboard memory, a 1TB PCIe-based SSD, four Thunderbolt 3 (USB Type-C) ports, a 50% larger Force Touch trackpad, a keyboard with a 2nd-gen butterfly mechanism, stereo speakers with double the dynamic range of its predecessor as well as improved bass, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 wireless technology, and even a 3.5mm headphone jack. macOS Sierra is the installed operating system.

Please note that this Mac may come with an earlier version of macOS. You can upgrade to the latest version through the Mac App Store app.

Touch Bar
The Touch Bar replaces the function keys that have long occupied the top of your keyboard with something much more versatile and capable. The multi-touch, Retina-quality display changes automatically based on what you're doing, from showing traditional system controls, such as volume and brightness, to more directly interacting with or browsing through content. Intelligent typing features like emoji and predictive text improve the typing experience, and you'll be able to customize the Touch Bar to fit your needs. The Touch Bar can also adapt to apps, such as Mail, Safari, Messages, and even third-party apps like Adobe Photoshop, so you'll have access to useful functions previously hidden in menus.
Touch ID
A Touch ID sensor has been integrated into the power button, so you can quickly log into your account, even when another user is logged in. You can also use it with Apple Pay to securely purchase things over the web, thanks to macOS Sierra.
Retina Display
The 15.4" Retina Display has a 2880 x 1800 resolution and features brighter LED backlighting than its predecessor as well as an increased contrast ratio, delivering deeper blacks and brighter whites. Its larger pixel aperture and variable refresh rate make it more power efficient than previous generations. It also supports the P3 color gamut, which allows for more vibrant colors. This ensures true-to-life pictures with realistically vivid details, which are essential for graphic design, color grading, and editing.
Force Touch Trackpad
The Force Touch trackpad on the 15.4" MacBook Pro is 50% larger than the previous generation. The Force Touch trackpad takes all the capabilities of multi-touch and adds force sensors that detect subtle differences in the amount of downward pressure you apply. This lets you have a deeper connection to your content, bringing more functionality right to your fingertip. It also introduces haptic feedback to MacBook Pro — allowing you not just to see what's happening on the screen, but to feel it. With multi-touch, you can use realistic gestures like swiping or pinching to switch between apps, navigate your content, and get the most out of your desktop space.
Thinner & Lighter
The 15.4" MacBook Pro features a redesigned enclosure design and all-metal unibody construction that creates a rigid and dense notebook that is also thin and light. At just 15.5 mm thin, the 15.4" MacBook Pro is 14 percent thinner and has 20 percent less volume than the previous generation. It is also nearly half a pound lighter at just four pounds.
Audio
The speakers have been totally redesigned to provide as much as twice the dynamic range and up to 58 percent more volume, with two-and-a-half-times louder bass for maximum boom. Plus, they're connected directly to system power, enabling up to three times more peak power.
macOS Sierra
The 15.4" MacBook Pro runs macOS Sierra, which features Siri integration, Universal Clipboard, Apple Pay on the web, and memories in Photos.
Thunderbolt 3
Thunderbolt 3 is a hardware interface that utilizes the reversible USB Type-C connector. Doubling the speed of its predecessor, Thunderbolt 3 features a maximum throughput of 40 Gb/s when used with compatible devices. The connector also transmits data via USB 3.1 at up to 10 Gb/s, and dual-bandwidth DisplayPort 1.2 allows you to connect up to two 4K displays simultaneously or one multi-panel 5K display. The MacBook Pro has four ports, with each pair using a dedicated bus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect when they first released this I was disappointed with the lack of substantial change. I went and purchased a surface book pro for around the same amount of money. I was totally disappointed with that device. The screen was nice but the pen was hard to use and the balance on the computer was awkward. So I looked back into this. I purchased it 2 weeks ago and it has been a pleasure. The touchbar is useful and is truly more efficient. particularly the screenshot short cut. you can customize it the way you want. the keyboard is better than before. overall it is a huge upgrade! Im very pleased with it. I use it for marketing, photo editing and 3-D rendering software

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Awesome Product...Various Issues The laptop is an awesome upgrade/replacement to the previous macbook pros, but various issues that have been well documented on the roll out including hard drive latency as well as serious battery issues. The new OS is awesome and new keyboard layout/buttons as well as the touch bar which on first review seems out of the way and useless, is becoming more useful with each time the device is used. Hoping Apple creates fixes surrounding the battery issues, but beyond that and figuring out a way to use all accessories via adapters for usb-c, which is proving to be a challenge, the device is awesome and would recommend it even given all the issues.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Fast But Initial Access Challenging This is a very nice computer, very fast processor and with the 1 TB SSD drive access is super fast with little waiting. Only caution it has taken me awhile to get up and running because of the USB type C ports. I couldn't do a lot until i got some crossovers. My suggestion would be you order these at the same time as the computer. I have some reviews where people are saying Apple dropped the ball by not having other ports but I disagree. The whole industry seems to be going this way so I think Apple is very forward thinking. This USB type C seems to be the new future standard so why put obsolete ports on a new computer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome machine! I'm a professional photographer I recently purchased a new camera body and as of late I have been asked to shoot and edit video clips for clients as well. It only does this machine handle my new camera body's large files it also edits 4K video easily and allows you to use adobe after affects seamlessly. It's not a desk too but it's hands down the best option for anyone who does commercial video or photography this is the best road companion you could ask for.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too many downgrades This is my 4th MacBook Pro. In the past, every time I upgrade I find that the entire user experience is upgraded–better insides, better screen, better design, etc. This time, all of the usual improvements are spoiled by a few unacceptable downgrades. The shallow keyboard is unacceptable, and after a few weeks I'm still typing slowly with errors. The touch bar is a complete gimmick and annoying–after a while it turns itself off, so just to hit escape you need to first wake it up, then press it. I'm not a user experience design expert, but I believe ADDING steps is the opposite of improving UXD. And don't get me started on the thunderbolt 3 ports. I have to bring ugly, loose dongles around with me everywhere now. And I miss the magsafe charger which indicated when the battery was charging/full. That's gone now too. I upgraded because I needed a bigger SSD and improved specs for video/photo editing. And I'll admit that it's an incredibly fast and powerful machine. But due to all of these downgrades, I'm seriously considering selling this and going back to a maxed-out 2015 model– the last "good" MacBook Pro.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get off the fence and go get one! I'm waiting on After Effects to finish a render and thought I would leave a quick review. This 2016 Macbook Pro 15.4 is amazing! I've been a Mac guy for a long time and actually decided I would transition to PC recently. I tried out the Razer Blade because the specs sounded awesome. However, it had technical issues getting things to work with certain Adobe Creative Cloud programs, battery life sucked and the whole Windows OS just feels slow and clunky. I sent the Razer Blade back and got this instead. About 3 or 4 times a day I'll mutter to myself how much better this thing is and how happy I am that I switched back. Yeah, the specs don't match the Razer Blade or some of the other PC's out there but there is something intangible about the Mac ecosystem and how they tune their machines that you can't quantify just by reading a spec sheet. I use this laptop primarily for video editing (HD/4K) and motion graphics and so far it's been great. One concern I had was about the USB-C ports that everyone had complained about. Honestly, I got a cable for my phone and a couple of little Aukey USB-C to USB 3 port adapters (like $9) and haven't even thought about it since. And as more and more manufacturers begin to create products for the USB-C form factor it will become even less of an issue. Also, I previously owned a 2011 Macbook Pro 13 and always thought a 15 would be too big. However, because Apple has managed to get this thing so dang thin it now weighs less than my old 13 and fits in the same bag because it is so thin. The screen is crystal clear, the speakers sound better than any other laptop I've heard and it's just fun to use! If you are debating whether or not to get one of these because you've read a bunch of negative reviews about USB-C or because the specs are not the latest and greatest I would suggest strongly considering the 2016 Macbook Pro! I've been incredibly happy with battery life, performance, etc. Hope this helps!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great machine. This will be my main home machine. I also do Linux programming in a VM on this machine. With the MB Pro speed and storage, when I retire my aging 27" iMac, I'll just replace it with a large monitor to connect to my MB Pro. I like the Touch ID and touch bar. The larger track pad is nice but due to it's size, I often find myself resting part of my hand on it which sometimes effects my desired commands. I found some inexpensive adapters, so the lack of additional types of ports is only a minor inconvenience. The speakers sound great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A significant upgrade As a long time Mac User, this was an obvious update. I am very impressed with the speed of the on board SSD. I do not consider the Thunderbolt 3/USB C only to be a significant issue. My external SSD drives have both cables for straight USB 3.1 Type 2 (USB C) and for to prior USB connections. The throughput is > 400 MB/s for both read and write with these external drives and 1880 write, 2000 read for the internal 1GB SSD. And, a single small add-on gives me video and two USB 3 support. In addition, I have found no issue with battery life. I use this for general computing and for Photoshop/Lightroom Photo management.
