The 10U New Nylgut Tenor Ukulele String Set from Aquila is a regular set for the key of C with a high G string. The set utilizes New Nylgut, a synthetic material that provides the high-quality tone often associated with gut strings, but without any of the typical defects. This new synthetic material offers a better sound than standard nylon or PVDF with notable stability of intonation under changes in moisture from humidity or sweat. This string set is tuned G, C, E, and A.

  • Better sound than Nylon or PVDF, like genuine gut strings
  • More accurate fret intonation due to the well-gauged material
  • Very stable intonation under moisture changes

10U New Nylgut Tenor Ukulele String Set (High G) is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best for strumming The good: Aquila New Nylguts produce deep, rich tone when strumming highly reverberant chords; tone quality does not break down when strummed hard, tuning is stable after they stretch for about two weeks; they are not as squeaky as D'Addario Nyltechs; and New Nylguts are probably the loudest string on the market, creating a lot of vibration that The not so good - tension is high, so the 10Us can irritate the fingers of people who play for hours at a time; the tension does not lend itself to delicate/fast fingerpicking and note definition isn't the best, so not recommended for playing Classical, Flamenco or Jazz; 10Us get squeaky when fingers starts to sweat; they can produce a deadened, boxy sound on some instruments (e.g. my all-solid wood cedar/rosewood Kala Comfort Edge that now has Fremont Blackline fluorocarbons on it), and they can produce volume that overwhelms highly responsive solid spruce tops on others (my Cordoba 32T tenor that now has hand-polished D'Addario Nyltech EJ88Ts on it). I use Aquila New Nylguts on a solid acacia Lanikai ACS-T tenor for playing rhythm on old-time and Cajun dance tunes, where the tonal benefits outweigh the shortcomings.
