MAGIX VP14SP Overview

MAGIX Entertainment Vegas Pro 14 is updated with highly-relevant new features, such as Apple ProRes support.

The three different versions of Vegas Pro 14 (Vegas Pro 14 Edit, Vegas Pro 14, and Vegas Pro 14 Suite) all have the same core functionality but come with different effects packages. Vegas Pro 14 Edit doesn't include any additional packages; Vegas Pro 14 comes with Vegas DVD Architect, NewBlueFX Looks, Nativ + NewBlueFX Titler Pro Express, and Native + proDAD Mercalli V4; and Vegas Pro 14 Suite has everything that Vegas Pro 14 does plus Boris FX 3D Objects Unit, Native + Boris FX Key and Blend Unit, and Boris FX Match Move Unit. Also, where Vegas Pro 14 is supplied with Nativ + NewBlueFX Titler Pro Express, the Suite has the more comprehensive Nativ + NewBlueFX Titler Pro 3.

Vegas Pro 14 is a comprehensive and complete video editing system. Vegas supports media in up to 4K resolution, offers GPU acceleration, features stereoscopic 3D tools, and includes a full range of editing tools, from the most basic to advanced ones. Vegas has long been known as an editing system that's open to most formats and capable of editing them mixed on the same timeline, and that's still the case. Another distinguishing quality of Vegas is its powerful audio tools, which in many cases will suffice for even elaborate projects, ensuring you won't have to export to a dedicated audio editor. Vegas is also powerful— it runs exclusively on 64-bit versions of Windows 7, 8, and 10, and can take advantage of OpenCL-enabled graphics cards (GPUs) for an accelerated workflow, reduced render times, and the ability to play back high-resolution formats at full quality in real-time. Yet despite all this power, Vegas requires only a fairly modest system (please click on the Specifications tab for System Requirements). In addition, Vegas offers the ability to downscale your footage to lower-resolution proxy files so you can work even faster, especially useful for less powerful systems. In the end, however, you'll still be able to finalize everything in full quality.

Just like it's open to most formats, Vegas also offers interoperability with other NLEs, meaning you can import project files (or XML versions) into Vegas and retain most, if not all, of the edit decisions made in the third-party NLE. You can also export Vegas projects so they can be continued or completed in select other editing or finishing software.

New Features in Vegas Pro 14

Hover Scrub Technology

Quickly scrub through footage in the Trimmer window and add In and Out points on the fly. This enables you to quickly identify just the important portion of your video clip and then add it to your timeline.

Upscale HD Footage

Upscale HD footage for use in 4K and UHD projects.

RED Camera Support

Quickly and easily import and edit recordings made with the latest RED digital cameras into Vegas Pro 14.

Up to 40x Video Velocity

Create extreme fast motion effects with the new higher velocity limit. Combine with the event playback rate for a maximum clip velocity of 40 times normal speed.

Smart Zoom

Define the focal point of your video regardless of what was originally framed in-camera. Use keyframing techniques to create exact zooms in post that your videographer didn't shoot in the field.

Smart Adaptive Deinterlacing

Transform even the fastest paced deinterlaced material to modern progressive footage with stunning quality and clarity.

Script for Grouping Video and Audio Events

Create custom scripts for combining video and audio material. Automatically group objects you have selected.

Decide Which Resampling Mode to Use

Set resampling mode on a project-wide basis and start all your projects with that setting if you choose to. Never spend needless time adjusting the resampling mode on individual timeline events again.

High Frame Rate (HFR) Support

Faster import for HFR material. Achieve the highest quality results with Vegas Pro 14.

This HD-compatible intra-frame video codec offers high quality and smooth frame access for video editing and post-production.

HEVC Support for UHD

Achieve top quality results fast with HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding) support, an ultra-modern codec with professional features.
