GOAL ZERO Nomad 7 Plus overview

  • 1Description

The black Nomad 7 Plus Solar Panel from Goal Zero is a portable and foldable solar panel that will directly charge small electronics like smart phones and GPS units, or Goal Zero battery packs. This unit puts out 7W of power, and you can chain multiple Nomad units together to increase wattage output for added versatility.

The solar panel features a standard USB port for directly charging devices, and an 8mm port for power packs. A removable kickstand helps aim the panel for optimum energy production, and features a handy zippered pocket to stow the charging cables. The weather-resistant design has loops to secure it to surfaces like tents for catching optimal sunlight, or backpacks to catch a charge during a hike.

GOAL ZERO Nomad 7 Plus reviews

Nomad 7 Plus Solar Panel (Black) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 311.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from I actually already have the biolite solar panel, so I tested these out side by side. I felt like the biolite was actually easier to set up and position right with the sun. The lights on the goal zero solar panel didn't light up consistent with its charge transfer. At one point they weren't lit at all, but my device was charging quite well. That being said, it's tiny and convenient, and it does its job. I probably need a bit more play before I'll leave the biolite one at home, but it seems pretty good. The lantern and panel were my first introduction to goal zero and I like their products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SO EXCITED. I've been considering BioLite's solar panel since last year, but couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger. I'm very reluctant to buy new things when I have stuff that works just fine, even if it's heavy or bulky (like my sleeping bag...ancient and awful, but...it gets the job done). The only thing I carry to charge is my phone for photos' sake, and it seems ridiculous to haul around empty battery packs as they drain over a backpacking trip. I love this. Love this love this love this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This was the best surprise in the Obsidian box. A while back my Lighthouse 400 Lantern & USB Power Hub panel was charging got left out in the rain. It's never been the same. Every now and then I take it out and try to get it to work, I can't seem to throw it away because I keep hoping someday it will fire up and work again. Having a BRAND NEW panel that's lightweight, durable, and quality from Lighthouse 400 Lantern & USB Power Hub is very exciting. Pairing it with the lantern was a nice touch.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This review is based on a single home test, I do wish I would have tested it in the field but never wanted to carry the extra weight, nor did I need extra power on hikes. That said, it's a good option for off grid power if you have a ton of time to wait for it to charge something on a sunny day, or have an extended camping trip in an area without power. I have never needed the extra power so I'm not sure I am going to use this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If you are heading out into the bush with ANYTHING that needs to be recharged then this item is a must have! The only thing I have charged with it is the Lighthouse 400 Lantern & USB Power Hub Lighthouse lantern and it was almost spot on with charging time for that. (granted, it IS winter in Montana. I should be lucky I could get enough light to charge it at all.) Seems solid. Look forward to trying it this spring.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It would probably be a 10, but I haven't field tested it yet. So far I have high hopes. I've meant to try out a solar charger for a long time and just never have, so I'm excited to get this one and field test it in the desert in a week. I like what I see so far and it seems like a perfect size and like it will be really easy and convenient to clip it on my pack or in a sunny spot in the jeep to charge it up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I really wanted one of the panels but never went out and bought one. Now that I have it I am so happy. It is durable and well designed. It will charge your phone directly or hook up to their battery (sold separately) to charge either a phone or the larger one a tablet. The Goal Zero products go all the way up to small scale basecamp type power arrangements.
