Apresys Optics M5012 overview

  • 1Description

Opting for a traditional Porro prism configuration, the Apresys Optics 12x50 M5012 Binocular delivers performance while maintaining a classic look and comfortable feel. Its wide field of view helps to minimize the distraction of visible hand-shake common with higher-power optics, while the large objective lens diameter draws in copious amounts of light to boost its low-light performance, such as at dawn or dusk, or under heavy canopies. Helping to boost its light-gathering ability are phase-correcting prism coatings and broadband anti-reflection multi-coatings, which ensure bright and clear high-contrast images with accurate color rendition and sharp resolution.

The ergonomic design is comfortable to hold and weighted to fit solidly in the hand to reduce hand-shake and fatigue. It is made of a lightweight and impact-resistant composite chassis that is wrapped in a protective slip-resistant rubber armor. The optical tubes are nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to make them waterproof and resistant to fogging when moving through extreme temperature changes. A large center focusing wheel, ±4 dioptric correction, and twist-up eyecups enable precise focusing and eye relief for just about any user. For long glassing session or to eliminate arm fatigue, the M5012's can be tripod mounted with an optional adapter.

Optical Performance
  • 12x magnification
  • 50mm objective lenses
  • Porro prism optical path improves the depth of field versus similar roof prisms to produce a rich viewing experience

  • Broadband anti-reflection fully multi-coated optics produce neutral and accurate color fidelity across the entire visible spectrum, and improves contrast and image brightness
  • Wide 67° apparent angle of view
  • 294' field of view at 1000 yards
Use and Handling
  • Textured center focusing wheel is easy to manipulate with or without gloves
  • 53-74mm interpupillary distance adjustment range

Apresys Optics M5012 reviews

12x50 M5012 Binocular is rated 1.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not Purchase these Binoculars This was an alternate choice to the Nikon Action EX 12x50 binoculars, but I was not expecting anything like Nikon quality. Well, turns out the Apresys 12x50 is the cheapest, lowest quality both build and optics, binoculars available. The twist-up eye-cups are both flimsy and move with the slightest of pressure. Same goes for the diopter adjustment dial, flimsy and does not stay in place. And, of course, collimation was so out of alignment it started to induce a headache. To top it all off, I could not achieve infinity focus for the right side, with or without corrected vision. I have spent far less money on other binoculars and each an everyone of those budget-bins had respectable build and optics, that were ready to use out-of-the-box without alignment issues. Do not spend your hard-earned money on these binoculars.
