Freewell FW-MAV-LSH overview

  • 1Description

The Freewell Lens Sunhood for the Mavic Pro attaches to the front of the copter and covers the lens a bit to provide for optimal image capture as well as physical protection. The sunhood effectively blocks glare from the sun and prevents lens flare, and substantially shields the lens in case of a crash. It's very lightweight and doesn't weigh down the copter nor detract from its total flight time.

    Freewell FW-MAV-LSH reviews

Lens Sunhood for DJI Mavic Pro & Platinum is rated 2.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hood Needs to be Modifide or You'll Need to Fly Very Subdued The hood fits the air frame nicely and seems to be made with quality material. However, with this item installed, you will likely see your camera view cropped at the top of your frame if you fly with any velocity at all. I'm not talking about sport mode (I have never actually put my Mavic Pro into sport mode as I don't need that level of performance). While flying in standard P mode, with this hood attached, I took straight off, achieve my desired altitude and then proceeded at full speed (again just in standard P mode) to my target area and upon acceleration the top third of my screen went black as this hood obstructed the view of my camera. Flying in Tripod mode I didn't have a problem, but in any other flight mode I tried, the hood was still visible in frame. The only way I would use this sun shade again is after I have shaved the top eyelid down significantly, which I plan to do and try again. But, out of the box, this item is unusable for serious aerial imaging.
