Vixen Optics 11301 overview

  • 1Description

Designed and engineered for making detailed observations of artwork and crafts, the Vixen Optics 4x12 Artscope Monocular boasts an exceptionally short 7.9" (20cm) close focus distance with a wide 11.5° angle of view. Its BK7 roof prism corrects images horizontally and vertically for correct image-orientation, and anti-reflection fully coated optics ensure maximum light transmission to produce bright and clear high-contrast views. The aluminum alloy housing is finished with a red anodized coating for corrosion and scratch-resistance, with a ribbed rubber focus collar for easy handling, and a fold-down rubber eyecup to make it comfortable to use with or without eyewear. The Artscope monocular is made in Japan, and comes with a hard case and carrying strap.

    Vixen Optics 11301 reviews

4x12 Artscope Monocular (Red) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from tiny, effective Bought this because of tiny size and close-focus, potentially for travel and visiting museums (for close inspection of small objects deep in large display cases). ALSO, considering purchase of another for my daughter in law who has multiple visual problems, including inability to use binoculars (her eyes don't align properly). The central image quality is very good, but the periphery is obviously fuzzy. However, the very wide field makes it easy to locate something, even if the IQ around the edges is poor. Found it useful and easy to use at a recently attended dance performance - more satisfactory in some repects than my 5X Canon theater glasses. I also purches the optional stand magnifier. This makes an excellent 16X magnifier with a very long focal distance. The accessory lens can be unscrewed from the stand to create a hand-held magnifier. Very handy and versatile.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small, but very useful This macro lens from Vixen is tiny, but provides very useful amounts of magnification. It fits on a small pocket. I use it for looking at birds on my backyard. This is only a 4x lens, so for longer distances you will need something more powerful. The macro allows me to use it as a magnifier. With the additional stand, it becomes a 12x microscope. I intend to take it with me, the next time I go to a museum.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good reading aid with decent optics At this price point, the optics is decent when I tested it looking out into the woods at a distance. It's not as good as the high end Zeiss or Nikon scopes but I don't expect it to be either. I bought this for my mother who has bad eye sight to use as a vision aid like reading or seeing things in a store. It's eye relieve is very tight and it took some timed for the user to learn how to use it. It's close focus makes it usable for reading. I am not too sure it is better for this purpose than a magnifying glass. However it can also be use to see things at a distance so it is useful in a store or on the street. The general build of the scope is good. It feels substantial and the focus ring is smooth and tight. It turns quite a bit from the two focusing limits. It is very light and small so it can be carried hanging down the neck comfortably all day. The caps just won't stay on so they are left off. The storage pouch is as cheaply made as can be. I just opened it for the first time to take the scope out and it ripped; so into the trash bin it went. The lens caps for very loosely and just won't stay on. So pretty much my mother carries it just so without the caps and the pouch. It serves it's purpose fine and for its price, the build quality and the optical performance are both good. The only negative aspect is related to the accessaries it came with.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice for aiding eyesight I have some vision issues including wearing an eye patch over one eye. Even my good eye needs some help and this monocular has been very nice. I can see the moon sharply again and use it to see presentations at meetings. The optical quality is very good but not outstanding though fine for my needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More than I expexted, fits VIXEN stand. Examine barbs, tips and finish of hand made classic salmon fly hooks during construction. Comparing the hook bend on top of templates is the is very useful. This can be accomplished using the stand which allows light onto a white background.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from it is equipped with BK7 prism with more than 100 Dollars price, they should use BK4 easy to use.
