Designed for smooth gaming and advanced multi-processing performance, the Ryzen 5 1600X 3.6 GHz Six-Core AM4 Processor from AMD has a base clock speed of 3.6 GHz and a maximum turbo frequency of 4.0 GHz. Additionally, this processor features six cores with twelve threads in an AM4 socket with 3MB of L2 cache memory and 16MB of L3 cache memory. Having six cores allows the processor to run multiple programs simultaneously without slowing down the system, while the twelve threads allow a basic ordered sequence of instructions to be passed through or processed by a single CPU core. This processor also has a TDP of 95W.

Graphically, the Ryzen 5 1600X 3.6 GHz Six-Core AM4 Processor does not contain any integrated graphics, meaning that users will need to purchase a dedicated graphics card of their choice. It is also unlocked, meaning it can be overclocked past its maximum turbo frequency. However, this is not recommended, as it will cause the processor to run much hotter. This CPU is protected by a limited 2-year warranty.

    How Does Enmotus FuzeDrive Work?

I got this chip paired with a Asus Crosshair VI board with a G.Skill F4-3299C14D-16GTZR kit running at 3200 Mhz and with a for now Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo cooler. the performance in Gaming is very good and it rips and tears through Handbrake video encoding with ease. anything you run that is multithreaded that takes all 12 threads is breath taking. the only con I have is this chip does run a bit on the hot side and heavy encoding and other apps that use every thread available at 100 percent usage causes shutdowns due to over heating. need to get a better cooler for the job but other than that, this chip is a great one!

The R5-1600X is THE best bang-for-your-buck CPU currently available. Take care in selecting your motherboard and RAM - view AMD's recommended RAM, and view the compatibility documents / qualified vendor lists from your RAM and motherboard brands.

In retrospect, I would have purchased the 1600 (not the 1600X) if I were doing it over. The 1600X runs at 95w and ships without an included cooler. Also, this particular chip doesn't OC very well. Runs stable OC'd to 3.85Ghz, but that's as far as she will go and not have any issues, with the setup I have.
