Korg overview

  • 1Description

The Korg volca sample Digital Sample Sequencer and Drum Machine Kit from B&H includes a Korg hardware digital sampler, an Arturia DrumBrute all-in-one analog drum machine, a connection cable, and six AA batteries. The kit is aimed at modern indie-rock bands, dance music producers, DJs, hip-hop artists, and electronic musicians.

The volca sample lets you edit and sequence up to 100 sample sounds in real time for powerful live performances. It can recapture the excitement of the first generation of samplers, in which any sound—vocals, spoken words, ambient sound, or glitches—becomes material for your creations. It is a fun-to-use sequencer with improvisatory potential. Record, manage, and download samples from volca sample's dedicated iOS app and Korg's SYRO library, which is also included.

The DrumBrute provides 17 distinct, fully analog drum and percussion instruments, massive connectivity, a two-mode Steiner-Parker filter, and dynamic performance controls. It allows you to create drum beats with a single, user-friendly device. It also offers punchy analog drum sounds and advanced 64-step/64-pattern sequencing possibilities with effective performance controls. This kit from B&H will take your beat production to the next level.

  • Korg volca sample - Digital Sample Sequencer

The volca sample from Korg is a digital sample sequencer that allows for sequencing up to one-hundred samples. The step sequencer is designed for ease of editing and to allow parts to be inserted or removed "on the fly." Sixteen step-keys enter notes while maintaining visual confirmation of the timing of the notes in a measure. A performance can be recorded in real time. Up to ten of the sequence patterns created can be stored in internal memory.

The motion sequence function records any time-varying changes made to the sound using the knob movements. An active step function allows for skipping steps during the sequence, and the step jump function instantly plays just the key-pressed step. A swing function adjusts the swing playback position, generating the distinctive groove of dance music styles.

A frequency isolator applies changes to the sound by boosting or cutting the low/high ranges with the isolator implemented as an analog circuit. The built-in reverb effect can be switched on/off for each part, and it is possible to save up to six song patterns, each combining up to sixteen sequences. Additional samples can be loaded using the volca sample's dedicated iOS app (the internal sounds are overwritten).

  • Arturia DrumBrute Analog Drum Machine

The DrumBrute from Arturia is a professional-grade, fully analog drum machine aimed at modern indie-rock bands, dance music producers and DJs, hip-hop artists, and electronic musicians. The unit features 17 pure-analog drum sounds, which build on the history of classic drum machines and offer an expanded feature set including high-performance effects and a modern step sequencer.

The DrumBrute offers a wide range of controls, which allow for many new and adventurous sounds including two flavors of kick drums and an unusual reverse cymbal effect. There are 12 individual outputs available, should you wish to mix or effect the sounds with an outboard mixer or effects.

The sequencer offers 64 patterns, each with 64 steps, and each drum track can be a separate length, which allows for the creation of advanced polyrhythms that move and breathe over time. Additionally, the machine offers step repeat for creating looping glitch effects, while the pattern effects offer swing and randomness globally or on a per-track basis.

The on-board Steiner Parker output filter offers high-pass and low-pass modes and features a complete bypass when not in use. There are four sync options (Internal, USB, MIDI, Clock) and four different clock formats allowing the machine to sync up with a variety of analog and vintage gear.
