Sticky leg locks

The leg twist leg locks are really sticky meaning the threads were dry with no lubricant for a smooth operation . This is my second set of Gitzo carbon tripods . The others had the same problem . So , to correct this I have A tube of Sil-Glide sold by NAPA which I use on other equipment to prevent binding . Just loosen the twist lock on each joint so you can see the threads . Smear some on each lock and this will give you a smooth fit . This cost me about 3 cents to correct . It will not cost Gitzo but about 3 cents per tripod and if this amount is going to effect their bottom line then just add it to the cost of the product . Other than this all is OK . By the way GITZO use to include a lubricant in a tube with the tripods . This was years ago .

Great compact tripod

About three years ago I started experimenting with mirror less cameras. I quickly discovered how small and light this equipment is when compared to a SLR system. Therefore, I found myself reaching my mirrorless equipment more and more. The tripod that I have been using was sized my larger much heavier SLR equipment. Consequently it was somewhat bulky and oversized for the equipment that I am using today. Therefore, it only made since to me to buy a smaller and lighter tripod. In addition, this model did not come with a ball head which I did not need. Another plus is that it comes with a tripod strap. The only minor complaint that I have is that they don't appear to sell spiked feet for it. As I said that is a minor complaint that obviously did not keep me from giving it 5 stars.

Perfect with a RRS BH-30

I was looking for a nice compact, sturdy, and light travel tripod. I paired the Gitzo with the RRS BH-30 (I have a RRS BH-55 and wanted a similar feel). The combo exceeded my expectations. I wish Gizto had provided a nicer carrying bag. I ended up using a bag that came with a MUCH cheaper Monfrotto tripod I had bought years ago. (Hint, hint, Gitzo!)

Really bad quality and very disappointed

The Gitzo GIGT1545T Traveler tripod came in defective. When I extend the leg, one section can be easily pulled out and completely detached for the tube, and the plastic damper at the connection is damaged. The Gitzo tripod is so famous and in my mind it should be equal to good quality, durability and reliability, and that is why I purchased it even price is expensive. This is my first Gitzo product purchase, and the bad experience totally ruined my impression to this famous brand. I feel so disappointed and now totally lose the trust to Gitzo products. I just worried if I use such an unreliable and low quality product outdoor, my photo equipment will be damaged sooner or later.

question

Does leg feel soft when it is fully extended? I have a Sirui T025x, compact but soft when extended. My main concer of upgrading. Also, is T2545T a more study tripod comparing to T1545?
Asked by: Harry
The last leg section of the GIGT1545T is much more sturdier than the Sirui T025x. The leg is thicker as well. When comparing the T2545T to the T1545, the T2545T will win in sturdiness.

Is the max height with center col up ?
Asked by: sal
Yes, max height is with the center column up. Without that, it is a little over 51 inches. I use an RRS head which brings it up to 54 inches without the center column. Extending the center column fully feels a bit unstable to me, so i don't extend it fully ever.
