Strong, light and small. With carry-on luggage for air travel, this tripod is perfect. Series 2 was too large to pack.

Light, sturdy and good quality. Fits on the side of my back pack camera bag. I've used it with Gitzo's two way fluid head for video.

Wonderful Tripod for Travel or Backpack

Perfect tripod for traveling with a compact size of 14 inches, and light weight. This tripod will fit easily in a suitcase or backpack folded up with a ball head. Will be using the Really Right Stuff BH30 as a ball head for the Gitzo GIGT1555T Traveler Series. The tripod folds nicely and compact with the Really Right Stuff BH30 head. Very sturdy and well built to hold your camera steady and at height that works well.

Compact yet sturdy

I was a little hesitant to buy this because of the cost, however I took the plunge. What impressed me the most was how sturdy the tripod is. I put my Nikon 850 with a f2,8 70-200 lens on and it felt like my Induro monster tripos. One reason I chose this model is that it puts the view finder at my eye level. Tall folks might not get this advantage. I used a small RRS ball head that I already had but am looking for a beefier head. Major advantages of this tripod is it's compact 14 inch stored state and its weight. I bought it for travel photography and it fits this use perfectly.

Very well built w. quality materials. Great value for the price. . Center column is not too high and is usable for most loads up to a small telephoto. Incredibly small, takes little space in a suitcase. I can't find anything wrong with it. I only give 4 stars cuz I can't be enthusiastic about a tripod.

Being a five sections tripod, no doubt the 5th one is quite slim; therefore, I would be opening that section only if needed by my composition. So, I'd like to know what height can this tripod reach when the four upper sections are deployed and not the smaller fifth?
Asked by: Michel
The Max working height without opening the 5th section is 47". .

Will the RRS BH 55 work well on this. I have a RRS tripod but would like a lighter one for travel?
Asked by: Andy
The BH-55 base diameter (2.9") is larger than the Traveler Series 1 head mount. While the BH-55 should be able to mount on the Traveler Series 1 tripod, you may lose some of the portability when folding the legs upward for storage. A better combination would be the BH-30 (1.6" diameter) to potentially save space and weight.

question

Will the Kirk BH-3 ballhead work with Gitzo traveler series tripods?
Asked by: Richard
While the Kirk BH-3 would screw onto the GT1555T tripod, it would have a larger base diameter than the base on the center column, causing it to over hang slightly.
