I started years ago with aluminum legs .. as I GOT OLDER and weight became a factor I purchased the Gitzo carbon fiber legs and I now feel a bit younger!

This was sort of a Goldilocks tripod for me. I own three other Gitzo tripods. Two series three from my younger days as a working pro and a series one that I bought several years ago when I retired. So, since all three of the older Gitzo's are just as tight as when I bought them, why change brands? I was looking for a lightweight tripod that could handle a Wimberley Gimbal head and be able to carry on hikes. This series two is perfect. Slightly heavier than the series one and substantially lighter the the series three. Very solid, well made, the correct height and a good weight. Goldilocks might say just right. Highly recommended.

Sold my Series 1 for this model. I needed just a bit more support without adding too much size and weight.

Great tripod

Although I own several Gitzo tripods, I was looking for something slightly heavier than my series one traveler that is now four years old. I also own a series three Gitzo tripod that is becoming too heavy for me to carry very far. I am in my seventies and arthritic. What I wanted is something to comfortably handle my Wimberly gimbal head and a long lens on a hike. My first Gitzo is now more than twenty years old and still as sturdy as new. The previously mentioned series one is also solid as new, I felt very confident staying with Gitzo with this choice. Turns out this series 2 traveler was the perfect choice. Both light weight and solid. If you are looking for your first tripod or for a replacement; in my opinion, this tripod should be considered. Yes, it may be a little more expensive than others, it may also be the last tripod that you ever buy. Great product and highly recommended.

Excellent tripod for use when backpacking into the back country. I use mind with either a Gitzo #GH1720 QR pan & tilt Birding head for my spotting scope, and also for a lightweight Gimbal head with my Olympus OM-D-E1X camera system. Very pleased with this tripod; even tho I had to add several accessories to it to fit my needs. Reasonably priced, and of

I wanted a smaller tripod that would still be sturdy enough for my DSLR and long glass.

this is the 4th tripod I bought from Gitzo. Gitzo improved the design from time to time. This version is way better than the one from 10 years ago. light, fordable and reliable. I wish I should've buy this tripod with the tripod head. They make very sophisticate head with arch-swiss standard.

Extremely stable, especially for one with 4 section legs. Small enough to fit easily in a check-in bag.

Can the legs be folded the other way, not the way it is presented (around the center column), but the normal way, with the center column fully retracted? I have a Manfrotto 410 gear head, which I'd like to keep it attached all the time, and the tripod folded the normal way.
Asked by: Victor
If the column is pulled all the way up, you can fold the legs down on the GIGT2545T so it can be stored with your Manfrotto 410 head attached.

What is the short tube (approx 3") for that comes with this tripod? No instructions.
Asked by: Teresa
The GIGT2525T Traveler Series 2 carbon fiber tripod comes with a short column that you could use in addition to the existing column to raise the camera higher or in place of the existing column to allow you to get closer to the ground.

When the legs are folded (and no ball head, what is the circumference at the fattest point? I'm trying to compare it to the same measurement for the GIGT1545T so I have a feel for how much room it will take up in my travel bag. Thanks.
Asked by: Mark
Its widest point is the top of the first twist lock, roughly a width (lock to lock, like an equilateral triangle) of 106.13mm using my calipers. Calculating for outer linear dimensions, that makes it 318.39mm / 12.5". If considering its diameter, it's 96.79mm at the same closest lateral point, which puts its circumference at roughly 304.07mm / 11.97".

How does the GIGT2545T differ from the GT2545T? Only difference I can see is the GT2545T comes with a ball head.
Asked by: Charles
That is a tech question that should be directed to a Gitzo representative. I only purchased a Traveller 2 with a large video head for birding. Mine works fine, but beware the rubber feet can come unscrewed on their own and become lost with no warning. Applying some lock tight would prevent this.

The Manfrotto 608 Nitrotech Fluid Video Head, BH # MAMVH608AHUS would be an excellent choice for a video head. https://bhpho.to/36ZCCvR
