A fun and simple way to make prints of objects or negatives, this Cyanotype Paper from the Cyanotype Store is a 24-sheet pack of 5 x 7" assorted color paper. This paper is pre-treated for cyanotype printing, which allows you to simply arrange your objects or film on top of the paper, expose using sunlight, and process by rinsing in water. The cyanotype process is archival and the 100 lb hot press fiber-based paper is durable, making it well-suited for repeated rinsing if toning the prints to achieve a different color effect.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun but requires testing These are a really fun and hassle-free to try out cyanotypes. We had a lot of fun gathering all sorts of plants and leaves and making prints, and the results look stunning. However, if you're serious about getting good and consistent results, I think some research and testing is required, as with any photographic process. For example, the directions on the package indicate to expose the paper for 15 minutes, but you need to know that this is only sufficient if you're in full sunlight in the summer months. If you're further up north, or if it's winter, of if there are any clouds, you will get a lot less UV light, which is what these require. I've needed to up it to anywhere between 20 minutes to 1.5 hours. Check the UV index for your location before you test. I've also found that these yield a pretty pale color on their own and need a little extra help reacting to turn to that deep blue. A spoonful of peroxide mixed into the rinsing tray did the trick though. Other people have used a dash of vinegar. Experiment for the pH of your local water...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great option for making Cyanotypes I used this product for an art project with some digitally printed negatives. I was very happy with the detail and a sharpness I got in the cyanotypes. I found that using hydrogen peroxide on the cyanotype once it's been exposed & washed will help to darken the blue tones. Very happy with the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as Intended I ordered these for an assignment in a History of Photography class. They work as expected, but much patience and experimentation is required, and that's what makes them so addictive. Most consistent results were achieved in direct sunlight, but indirect sun works too. My kids LOVED making their own designs. 'Alternative' photographic processes are all the rage right now, and cyanotypes are a great way to get started.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great activity for students Easy-to-use cyanotype paper allows students to learn the most basic principles of photography -- that exposing a light-sensitive material to sunlight causes a chemical reaction that can create an image. Because the paper is developed in water, it is safe to use in a classroom; no darkroom required.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really fun to work with I love these cards. They print well and are a nice size. If only they were a little less expensive, you can go through them quickly, especially when you're experimenting.
