WD WDS512G1X0C overview

  • 1Description

The WD 512GB Black NVMe M.2 Internal SSD is a PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe-based solid-state drive built with the M.2 2280 interface that's widely found in many systems ranging from full-tower desktops to compact, space-saving PCs. After installing the drive, you'll have 512GB of storage space and be able to quickly access and save files and documents thanks to its 2050 MB/s read and 800 MB/s write speeds. Built with multiple thermal and power management features, it stays within operational temperatures to maintain high performance. Moreover, you can download the WD SSD Dashboard and Acronis True Image software to manage your drive's health and clone drives.

WD Black PCIe SSDs are capable of reaching 2050 MB/s read and 800 MB/s write speeds, faster than a traditional SATA-based SSD or HDD.
Thermal Power & Management
Featuring comprehensive thermal throttling and power management algorithms, the WD Black SSD prevents overheating to maintain high performance.
A 1.75 million hour MTTF (Mean Time to Failure) rating and several error-correction technologies ensure the WD Black SSD stays reliable.
M.2 Form Factor
M.2 drives are thin and compact so they can fit in both full-tower desktop systems as well as small form factor PCs.
WD SSD Dashboard & Acronis Software
Monitor your drive's health with WD SSD Dashboard and clone drives with Acronis True Image WD Edition software.
WD F.I.T Lab Certified
WD Black PCIe SSDs are certified by WD's F.I.T Lab for compatibility across a wide range of PC configurations.

    WD WDS512G1X0C reviews

512GB Black NVMe M.2 Internal SSD is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Died within 2 months The drive failed about 6 weeks after installation. Now, that happens, so I would not normally assign one star for that. But, WD has dragged their feet on replacing it. They asked me to repeat several times information I had provided in my original description of the case. They finally agreed to take the drive back. I meticulously followed the ridiculously detailed instructions (e.g., write the RMA # on three sides of the box). It was received at their facility some time ago, and they are still saying they have not received it yet. I sent them the tracking number. Still nothing from them. I filed a Better Business Bureau complaint, and I expect, eventually, I will receive a replacement drive, but I won't buy WD again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great I put this into my Dell XPS 8910, and it worked perfectly out of the box. For added complication, I then installed Fedora Linux 27 on it, and again, it worked perfectly with no special tricks required. Speed is ridiculous compared with my previous magnetic drive. Complete reboot including shut down takes something like 20s. Basically, when I turn on the box, I spend more time waiting for the BIOS to initialize than it takes to then get to the Linux login screen after that. Even Windows7 running inside VirtualBox is positively spunky now, after I moved the virtual disk file onto the SSD. Overall, totally worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Supper fast drive This drive is REALLY fast! I put it in a new Intel mini computer and it has vastly increased the speed. I'd say it's at least twice as fast as my previously fastest SSD. I've only had it a few months so can't really comment on reliability, but so far there's been no errors or compatibility issues.
