Lensbaby Sweet Spot Spark overview

  • 1Description

A bright normal-length lens with a unique tilting design, the Nikon F-mount 50mm f/2.5 Sweet Spot Spark Lens from Lensbaby affords you extensive control over selective focus effects for producing creative images in-camera. Compared to the original Lensbaby Spark, this dedicated optic is notably faster and offers an adjustable aperture range from f/2.5 to f/22 for controlling how large the sweet spot of focus is. The distinct tilting lens body also allows you to position your area of focus about the scene in order to draw attention to off-center subjects and dramatically blur away other portions of the image. The lens itself is a multi-coated glass doublet, which produces the distinctly sharp yet ethereal image quality Lensbabies are known for, and the flexible housing permits manual focusing on subjects as close as 9" away.

Normal-length 50mm f/2.5 lens is suitable for use with FX-format Nikon F-mount DSLRs, however can also be used with DX models where it will provide a 75mm equivalent focal length.
The f/2.5 maximum aperture is notably brighter than the standard Spark optic, and its adjustable range to f/22 affords more control over how large the selective focus portion of the image is.
Flexible lens body produces the distinct Lensbaby look and allows you to control where the sweet spot of focus is in the image area.
Lens body also permits manual control over focus, with a minimum focusing distance of 9".
Multi-coated glass doublet optical design.

    Lensbaby Sweet Spot Spark reviews

50mm f/2.5 Sweet Spot Spark Lens for Nikon F is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun Lens I haven't had this lens very long but so far I'm having lots of fun playing around with it and seeing what it will do. It's added a new element to snapping photos and is definitely something different and fun. I have medium size man hands and have no problem operating the lens and my Nikon D810's controls. The lens has to be held in position or it reverts to its maximum length. Yes, it has a plastic mount and construction but seems well made and durable enough. I'll probably buy more Lens Babys in the future, especially if B&H offers a discount. It comes boxed with a soft drawstring bag.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Frustrating I am not a novice to photography, but I'm telling you, this lens pushes all your patience buttons. It took many minutes per picture to get some decent focus where you want and even then the result looks terrible. After taking 10 pics you will want to throw it away. The focus wont hold and the slightest movement will throw the focus point away. I can better way better results with Nik Efex or Radlab software. Waste of money and time. Disappointing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from basically a lens to toy around with Shame on me for not reading the 'fine print' more carefully before ordering. No means to focus except by holding the front of the lens and squeezing the bellows. Have to hold it in place while you snap the pic. Definitely not a lens to do anything serious with.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap Even on sale, I thought it was not worth the price. Hard to use.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Difficult to focus I am having a hard time to get even a spot into focus. I think it works better with subjects in the far distance. Takes a lot of practice to get some decent results which will always be on the more blurry end.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Creativity is all it is For a toy-alike lens, it's unpectedly sharp where the focus is meant to be and soft where it meant to be. Not for everyone and certainly not for beginner who just picks up a camera to point and shoot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really fun lens! I bought this after seeing the price drop. It's a great lens to have in my back. It's super-easy to use and takes some great, unusual photos to add to my portfolio.
