Lensbaby Sweet Spot Spark Overview

A bright normal-length lens with a unique tilting design, the Canon EF-mount 50mm f/2.5 Sweet Spot Spark Lens from Lensbaby affords you extensive control over selective focus effects for producing creative images in-camera. Compared to the original Lensbaby Spark, this dedicated optic is notably faster and offers an adjustable aperture range from f/2.5 to f/22 for controlling how large the sweet spot of focus is. Normal-length 50mm f/2.5 lens is suitable for use with full-frame Canon EF-mount DSLRs, however can also be used with APS-C models where it will provide an 80mm equivalent focal length.
The f/2.5 maximum aperture is notably brighter than the standard Spark optic, and its adjustable range to f/22 affords more control over how large the selective focus portion of the image is.
Flexible lens body produces the distinct Lensbaby look and allows you to control where the sweet spot of focus is in the image area.
Lens body also permits manual control over focus, with a minimum focusing distance of 9".
Multi-coated glass doublet optical design.

I can't get it off my Nikon d600. It turns and is a little loose at the point where it should come out, but it won't. Any ideas?

question

Is this a BHPhoto exclusive product, or is discontinued? I cannot find any info about this product on any other websites, including the LensBaby site. I can only find information about the 50mm that has a fixed aperture of 5.6.
Asked by: Mallory F.
This is a special lens we made for B&H. It's our Spark lens with a Sweet 50 Optic installed.

question

Do you have to squeeze the lens to focus (this was mentioned in a review)? How is this lens operated? If squeezing is needed, how much pressure is needed? I have some issues with my hands which would make holding the lens and squeezing it at the same time difficult - but it looks like a great lens!
Asked by: Jennifer F.
Honestly, I find it too difficult to operate as well. It's a great idea, poor implementation. You'll have to squeeze constantly to keep focus, with both hands, meaning there's some hand yoga going on to hit the shutter button.
