Angenieux Optimo 28-76mm Overview

Angenieux's Optimo 28-76mm Lightweight Wide-Angle Zoom Lens with ASU Servo Unit is a fast zoom lens with a PL mount for Super35-sized sensors. This kit includes a handgrip-type ASU servo unit that provides focus, zoom, and iris control.

Angenieux Optimo 28-76mm Lightweight Wide-Angle Zoom Lens

Angenieux's Optimo 28-76mm Lightweight Wide-Angle Zoom Lens is a fast zoom with a PL mount for Super35-sized sensors. In addition, the rear assembly allows you to swap the lens mount from PL to Panavision or Canon EF.

This version of the lens ships with a PL mount and the Super35 rear optical assembly. Set up as such, it features a T2.6 aperture and focuses down to 2' in front of the image plane while weighing in at only 4.2 pounds. The 114mm front diameter of the lens is a common diameter compatible with cinema-style matte boxes. The lens features independent focus, iris, and zoom control rings with cinema standard gear teeth.

Interchangeable Lens Mounts

This lens ships with a PL mount; however, that mount can be swapped with separately available Panavision or EF lens mounts.
Losing only 1/10 of a stop within the lens, the Optimo is extremely efficient. The fast T2.6 maximum aperture in Super35 matches the maximum aperture of many standard prime lenses for Super35. This allows you to light to a lower illumination level than would normally be required for many zooms, making for more consistent images as you may not have to relight the scene, as is often the case when moving from primes to slower zoom lenses.

Manual Lens Control Rings

Featuring independent manual control rings for focus, iris, and zoom, with each control ring incorporating industry-standard 0.8 lens gear teeth.

114mm Front Diameter

The Optimo shares the same 114mm front common to the Angenieux Optimo lens series, allowing you to easily share matte boxes between the Optimo lenses.

Temperature Stability

The Optimo series of lenses are designed and built to compensate for temperature drifts, which helps reduce the need to re-collimate the lens.

Angenieux Servo Unit - ASU

The Angenieux Servo Unit - ASU provides ENG-style focus, iris, and zoom servo-control for your Angenieux lightweight zoom lens. The ASU bolts directly onto the lens, and has a minimum of cables for a fast setup time.

The ASU is compatible with select wired and wireless lens control systems, and generates Cooke /i metadata. Use the ASU with an optional PL lens mount /i Cooke interface to record the metadata to your camera. Depending on your remote control configuration, the ASU's focus, iris, and zoom motors can be turned off independently to avoid unintended adjustments.

Features

  • Can be used to control focus, iris, and zoom
  • Handgrip-style servo control motor attaches directly to Angenieux zooms
  • Offers wired/wireless remote FIZ control with select devices
  • Generates lens metadata in Cooke /i format
  • Integrates with motion control systems, monitors, etc. via /i output port
  • Use with optional lens mount to record metadata to camera
  • Independently shut off focus, iris, and zoom motors depending on your remote setup
