Explore Scientific's ED127 127mm f/7.5 Carbon Fiber APO Refractor Telescope is ideal for lunar, planetary, and deep-sky viewing while still being highly portable for off-the-grid observations. Its form-factor makes it perfect as a convenient grab-and-go option, or set up on a dual-mount rig for astrophotography/astroimaging. Using HOYA extra low-dispersion (ED) glass in an apochromatic triplet lens configuration, with fully multi-coated optics, produces images that are clear and bright without fringing, halos, or distortion across the entire field of view, with true color rendition and high-contrast.

This iteration of the ED127 comes upgraded with a Starlight Instruments Feather Touch 3" dual speed focuser. Replacing the stock 2" focuser provides more light through the drawtube to ensure full coverage of large imaging sensors, allows it to carry heavier imaging rigs without flexing, and enables extremely precise focusing to achieve sharp resolution. Offered here as an OTA-only option for those with reliable support systems, the carbon fiber body resists the expansion and contraction common in metal tubes when moving between extreme temperatures, which can cause the internal lens elements to move out of collimation over time and affecting the scope's ability to achieve sharp focus and cause fringing and halos.
