Does this require a laptop that can run a 60hz refresh rate to run clean 4k for editing, or is that determined more by a quality hdmi cable?
Asked by: Stephen
The GPU and specs of the computer will affect the quality of the resolution and refresh rate. Its rare but you can have a bad cable negatively affect your display quality.

How does this monitor compare with that on the ...

How does this monitor compare with that on the 27" iMac? I realize the iMac is glossy, but other than that -- is the Viewsonic a step down? Thank you.
Asked by: Sue
The ViewSonic VP2768-4K 27" 16:9 4K UHD IPS Monitor BH #VIVP27684K has lower resolution (3840 x 2160 4K) and a lower 163 PPI (pixels per inch). The iMac has higher 5K resolution (5120 x 2880) with a higher 218 PPI (pixels per inch) so it will be sharper. Having said that, it is definitely not a step down and it is a great monitor to work side by side with an iMac, especially if you do any sort of photo/video work thanks to its much thinner bezels, 14-bit LUT & 3D LUT and better color uniformity in the sRGB, EBU, SMPTE-C and Rec. 709 color spaces.

question

Would this monitor be compatible with a mid-2012 13 MacBook Pro? If so, what additional cables would be required, if any?
Asked by: Lenore G.
The mid-2012 13 inch MacBook Pro should support external monitors up to 2560 x 1440. I don't think this should not to confused with 4K, which in this context is 3840 x 2160 pixels.
