ProMediaGear 34mm Series Overview

This TR344L 34mm Series 71" Pro-Stix Carbon Fiber Tripod from ProMediaGear supports up to 60 lb, measures 23.8" when folded, and includes a tripod top plate with a 3/8"-16 mount. Each of its four-section legs has a maximum diameter of 34mm. They also feature an independent spread, a three-position angle lock, quarter-turn twist locks for rapid deployment, and a rubber foot to enhance stability on a wide variety of surfaces. Together, the three legs can be extended and spread to raise the tripod from a minimum height of 3.8" to a maximum height of 71". For use on soft and uneven soil, each of the rubber feet can be unscrewed to access a stow-away metal spike, which can be fastened to the bottom of its corresponding foot.

Tripod heads, cameras, lenses, or sport optics that are compatible with a 3/8"-16 mount can be connected to the tripod's removable top plate, which is secured to the tripod's aluminum alloy head using six socket screws. The aluminum alloy head minimizes weight along with the carbon fiber construction of the tripod legs.

Alternatively, a separately-available ProMediaGear TRBU75 75mm Tripod Leveling Base with a separately-available TRB3475 75mm Tripod Bowl Insert can be installed within the aluminum alloy head. A video tripod head that is directly compatible with the TRB3475 tripod bowl insert or the TRBU75 tripod leveling base's 3/8"-16 mount can be used with the TR344L 34mm Series 71" Pro-Stix Carbon Fiber Tripod and oriented without adjusting the tripod's legs.

For direct attachment of accessories that feature 1/4"-20 mounts such as the included bubble level, three 1/4"-20 female accessory threads are distributed along the sides of the head. Alongside each of those 1/4"-20 accessory threads are pin slots that allow them to accommodate ProMediaGear accessories with anti-twist pins, or accessories with only a 1/4"-20 mount. To enhance stability, the underside of the top plate features an accessory loop which can accommodate the included carabiner along with a separately-available ballast such as a sandbag.

ProMediaGear 34mm Series Reviews

Five years and great as ever!

I may have been one of the first few to buy this tripod after a crazy amount of research. Spoke with the owner when I had some questions. He was very responsive and kind putting up with me. This is the best tripod I've ever owned over the last 25 years. It's literally perfect. I'm six feet tall and it's at the perfect height without extending the lowest leg section but when you need the height being on a hillside or just a unique taller perspective its there. It's better than any of the more well know brands we've all had or heard of. This is incredibly well made. Its the ONE!!

Light as a feather

I finely moved up to a legacy tripod that will be with me the rest of my career. This one hit all the tic marks and was almost a pound lighter than the closest competitors and almost 2 feet taller.

The last tripod you'll ever buy

I hesitated to spend this much for a tripod, but once you use it for a while you'll wonder how you ever lived without it. For landscapes, I can't imagine a more sturdy and easier to use setup. I have mine paired with an RRS BH-55, and it makes for an immovable platform. PMG has great customer service too. I had a small issue with mine and the shipped it back and sent it to me cleaned and good as new. Really can't recommend it highly enough.

Rugged and sturdy

My grandfather, who worked for half a century at Boston Gear Works, would be proud of the craftsmanship of the ProMediaGear TR344L: its sturdy reliability appears unmatched. As a rather short fellow, I probably would have been better off with the normal version; that said, however, it works wonders when pointing up into Hong Kong's scaffolding or into the stars off the coast. It works like a charm with an Acratech ball head. Do be aware that the metal grips do take a while to get used to; nonetheless, I can recommend this tripod wholeheartedly.

It's worth it

I searched for tripod review/feedback/video so long and so extensively it was crazy. I kept trying to talk myself out of this particular tripod due to the cost but it has so many additional advantages over the competitors I had narrowed it down to that I eventually pulled the trigger; so glad I did! The design of the feet and how you switch from grips to spikes is great IMO; the knurled aluminum collars, its crazy low to ground ability, exceptional strength yet a good pound lighter than similar tripods and the length is air travel capable in a reasonable suitcase. Extra height allows you to set up on steep slopes/very uneven areas while still having plenty of height to avoid having to stoop to view your shot comfortably.

Top quality, worth the price

Everything about this tripod is top notch, from the built in bubble level on the top plate to the metal locking rings on the legs. Paired up with the Katana Jr gimble head, the Nikon D850 & 200-500mm are a joy to work with.

Best tripod ever

I've had a lot of tripods in my 44 years of photography and videography and this is my favorite. Built very sturdy yet light even for my old bones to carry. If you purchase make sure you get the right size head and quick release plates don't come with expensive heads now a days..

Really Right Selection

It's taller, holds more weight and costs about $100 less than a comparable tripod by competing company, which doesn't seem to have produced a tripod for quite a long time now.

can you fit this diagonally in a carry on luggage?
Asked by: mark
The 344L breaks down to approximately 24 inches long and may fit diagonally in your carry on suitcase depending on your suitcase size. If necessary, you may take an entire leg section completely off the tripod to make it smaller and put it back on once you arrive at your final destination. The unit may be checked too and fits great in a larger than carry on suitcase. Remember that the spikes are inside the leg and some airlines may make you remove these if carried on and check them.
