Ambient Recording NanoLockit Overview

The matchbox-sized NanoLockit from Ambient Recording is a highly accurate and easy-to-use timecode generator which allows you to wirelessly sync timecode and framerate between devices such as DSLRs, film cameras or audio recorders. Synced devices enable you to generate clips that can be quickly auto-conformed in professional editing software, streamlining your post-production workflow.

The NanoLockit lets you generate timecode at all framerates using the built-in Real Time Clock (RTC), or jam-sync other units by feeding in external timecode via the 5-pin LEMO connector. Syncing up is a one button experience as the unit self-configures and the framerate is set automatically when jammed.

Timecode and metadata are transmitted via the proprietary 2.4 GHz, ACN long-range radio network, making the unit compatible with all other ACN Lockit devices. Power is provided externally via the micro-USB port or by the rechargeable battery, which provides 35+ hours of operation on a full charge. With its sturdy aluminum body and locking LEMO connector, the NanoLockit is well equipped to withstand the prolonged rigors of on-set use.

is there a way to set auto frame rate if my camera needs to shoot 24fps then 60fps on a hurry?

According to Ambient: The ACN-NL follows the TC frame rate it is jammed with. Thus, if you jam the device with 24 fps (or 23.976) it will take over these frame rates. A 60 fps frame rate is not specified by SMPTE, and therefore not available by the NL. Regarding high speed, the cameras generally switch to internal counting of the frames and are not synced with the other devices. Usually the time code frame rate is not changed within one production. If I sync nanoloskit from external clock does it ...

If I sync nanoloskit from external clock does it sync all the time or just at the beginning? (My use case would be sending timecode from abletone to resolume arena but every song has it's own timecode) So would there be a need to resync for every song? Thank you

If a nanolockit its connected to my panasonic gh5 will the camera internal mics still record audio and if the Panasonic DMW-XLR1 XLR is connected?

If the camera has no XLR adapter and you plug the NanoLockit's time code cable into the 3.5 mm jack, the camera's internal microphone is off.If they feed it into one of the inputs of the Panasonic DMW-XLR1 XLR Microphone Adapter B&H # PADMWXLR1 , you can still connect a microphone to the second XLR.

Can this use with C300MKII and Sound Devive Premix6 as the C300mkII has a timecode input with sdi cable, does NanoLockit has a SDi adapter?

According to Ambient: The NanoLockit does not have a SDI port. To supply the Canon C300 MKII with time code, you have to use the camera's BNC TC port. For syncing up this camera with the new Sound Devices MixPre-6, you will need the ACN-ML-D double pack and the LTC-OUT cable. Can it be use with a RED dragon and Sounddevice mixpre3 ?

I'm sure you can feed the TC in on the Sound Devices with the cable included with the nano lockit. However, the Red cameras need a proprietary adapter cable to feed TC in through a BNC connector. That means you'd also need the lemo to BNC output cable for the nano lockit. Hope that makes sense!
