    Zhiyun-Tech Smooth-Q reviews

Smooth-Q Smartphone Gimbal (Space Gray) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 127.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from The best I've used I have used several 3 axis gimbals over the past year or so and this one is definitely the best of the bunch. It is easy to setup and use, has a long lasting (12 hour) battery and several modes of operation to accommodate every shooting situation. The long lasting battery has a USB port so that you can recharge the phone while you use it. There is also an app which adds features like motion time lapse and gives you control over some of the camera's features from the handle. I prefer the features of the Filmic Pro pro app for controlling the camera so I do not use their ZY Play app. If you're thinking about getting a gimbal, I do not hesitate to recommend the Smooth Q. Both the price and the performance are excellent.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works as advertised Overall, it's a good product; it is compact and keeps footage nice and steady. There is a bit of a learning curve to get it working the way you want it to. There are several follow modes that are accessed by pressing a button in a sequence, unfortunately there is no indicator showing which mode the gimbal is in. Mounting a smartphone is a bit tricky. One has to pry open the bracket that holds it and while it's open the phone has to be positioned securely. The bracket has to be held by two hands, otherwise it snaps to it's original position. Sliding the phone and securing it in place becomes awkward because of the fiddling.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Impressive cell phone gimbal I think there's a reason this product seems to be selling out constantly and that is because it is simply put, very good. Nothing ridiculous or super special, just very good. Sure, the DJI osmo mobile is better, but it's twice as much! This gimbal can be easily confused if you really try, but in real world scenarios it performs remarkably well. The app for android kinda sucks, but this isn't a review for the app and that can quickly change, just worth noting. Overall I highly recommend this to anyone whose primary camera sits in their pocket and can make calls. Or a gopro, because this thing beats Karma by miles.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great for iphone NOT GOOD for Android My friend and I ordered one at the same time. He has an iPhone and I have Android. We set our smooth Q's up together. His worked Super. Mine did not and did not have anywhere near as many functions. I contacted Zhiyun and was informed that the software for iPhone was better. They said they were working on Android. I asked when it would be comparable. They would not give me any idea if or when it would ever work as well as it did with the iPhone.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Basic entry level gimbal that is just ok. This is my first gimbal smartphone holder and I really wanted to like it...I can't say that I do. I bought this one because it was fairly inexpensive as far as gimbals go. It works ok, but it is very basic. The zoom in and out feature which I thought it had won't work with my phone (iPhone 7 Plus). It just flips it to a different mode instead. Sometimes the arm will just randomly drop if you try to turn it too quickly. It's almost like it can't keep up so it just gives up and drops...or perhaps the iPhone 7 is almost too heavy for it. I'll still get use out of it, but I wish I would have just paid a little extra and gotten a better one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yup, it's a winner I have two other professional gimbals for serious cameras and this one works at least as well if not better. Now, it's probably because of the low weight of cell phones, but this thing is just so dang easy. No balancing except for one length slider, and no motor vibrations. Super well designed for its purpose. Works really well. The app is pretty good too. Making adjustments to the joystick panning speed is easy, and calibration being mostly automated is easy too. Use youtube for instructions on using the app for doing all this. Also make sure you grab and install the latest firmware from the company website. Use a youtube video for instructions on that too. Great little gimbal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just wow. WOW. Everyone hypes that this is plastic and not metal. That was my biggest fear. Turns out my fear is unfounded. Yes it is plastic, but a NICE plastic, like from a lens hood, of the back of your laptop screen, or a high end plastic barrel lens. Very smooth and well made. NO LOSS at all from having plastic. I use an iPhone X in a Tech21 case and it fits fine. Balancing was easier that I expected. I got aManfrotto MP3-BK for when I wanted to set it down, and the combo takes the cake. This is a pro setup, no cheap selfie stick here!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product with terrible documentation and support First thing to know is this gimbal works very well with my iPhone 7 Plus. My footage is buttery smooth, and I have fantastic control with the software and joystick. For the price of the only slightly better DJI Osmo, you can't go wrong. That said... The documentation that comes with the device, and the web site you're directed to for firmware updates, calibration, etc. are very poorly written and lacking. Most of it you'll just have to figure out on your own. If you're technically inclined you'll get it sorted soon enough, but if you really want top level support and clear instruction, the DJI Osmo Mobile is a better choice.
