Designed for high-end applications, such as digital audio/video production, gaming, and enterprise use, all of which are required to process heavy workloads, the 256GB MTE850 PCIe M.2 Internal SSD from Transcend offers a 256GB storage capacity for devices with an M.2 2280 (80mm) form factor and a PCIe 3.0 x4 interface. It provides sequential write speeds of up to 1100 MB/s and sequential read speeds of up to 2500 MB/s for compatible devices using 3D NAND MLC (Multi-Level Cell) flash memory. It also features SLC caching technology to help boost transfer speeds, a RAID engine, and Low-Density Parity Check (LDPC) coding to help ensure data integrity. This SSD has also been equipped with a thermal throttling mechanism to help prevent overheating and support for S.M.A.R.T. and TRIM. Compatible operating systems include Windows 10, 8.1, 8, and 7, as well as Linux Kernel 2.6.31 and later.

Transcend's MTE850 PCIe M.2 Internal SSD follows NVMe 1.2 and utilizes the PCIe 3.0 x4 interface, meaning four lanes are used for transmitting and receiving data simultaneously, resulting in sequential read speeds of up to 2500 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 1100 MB/s.
PCIe Interface
PCIe (or PCI Express) is a much faster interface than SATA (or Serial ATA) for connecting a host computer to solid-state storage devices over one or more lanes consisting of one transmit and one receive serial interface in each lane, meaning it can better fulfill more demanding performance requirements.
Understanding the NVMe Standard
NVMe (or NVM Express) is a host controller interface standard designed to address the needs of enterprise and client applications that utilize PCI Express-based solid-state storage. NVMe calls for better performance vectors than AHCI (Advanced Host Controller Interface), including scalable bandwidth, increased IOPS, and low latency.
3D Expansion
