Flying drones in their natural outdoor environment requires a bright display, like the DJI CrystalSky 7.85" Ultra-Bright Monitor for unhindered daylight viewing. The 2000 cd/m² bright touchscreen LCD screen is daylight viewable without requiring a hood, even in challenging glare situations. More than a monitor specifically designed for DJI products, the CrystalSky runs an Android OS and only comes loaded with the apps necessary for operating DJI devices. You won't find any spam applications to slow the device down. Plus, the hardware is optimized for decoding video transmitted by DJI devices, reducing lag and improving picture quality. Aside from the streamlined interface, the CrystalSky acts as a mobile device with all the necessary DJI apps pre-loaded.

Note: The CrystalSky includes two Intelligent Batteries and a two-bay charging dock that requires a separately available charger. Chargers from the Inspire (1/2) and Phantom (3/4) will work. 57W Osmo and Phantom chargers don't supply enough power to charge both the batteries and other devices simultaneoulsy. The Mavic Pro charger is not compatible.

Smooth Video Monitoring
The CrystalSky monitor uses optimized video decoding to decode video in real-time. Due to limitations in software access on smartphones and tablets, the video decoding abilities of other smart devices might be less than ideal. When used to view photos or videos transmitted by the camera, problems can occur including video jitter, unacceptably long latency, and more. The CrystalSky monitor's optimized decoder provides smooth, real-time video feedback from compatible drones with minimal latency.
Dual microSD Card Recording
Load up microSD cards to expand the CrystalSky's storage. Video can be recorded in H.264 or H.265 formats. With the ability to play back and edit 4K recorded video inside the CrystalSky, you can quickly share high-quality edited footage. Video can also be played back through the onboard HDMI output.
I/O and Network Connectivity
The CrystalSky monitor's HDMI port allows up to 4K video to be output to FPV goggles and other display devices. Built-in dual band Wi-Fi means it can connect to Wi-Fi networks and Wi-Fi hotspots from mobile devices, and it is also compatible with 4G dongles and USB storage through its USB Type-A port.

When connected to the Internet, the CrystalSky monitor gets easy access to system upgrades, livestreaming, photo or video sharing, data synchronization, and more. File sizes are optimized as much as possible to minimize mobile data demands.

Onboard micro-USB and USB Type-C ports make it convenient to connect the CrystalSky monitor with a remote controller or other devices.

    Rated 1 out of 5 by from OVERHEATING! Im user of one 7.85" Ultrabright and one 5.5". The smaller i made the update of the software and after that I start to recive some notifications in CHINESE... some time after that i made a research in internet and found that means a overheat in the screen.� Some time after i bought the UltraBright ($1000) and dont made the update of the software... guess what? Start to overheat. NOBODY of DJI is telling us whats happen... i have $1600 in two screens and i cant use this! Sorry DJI, but i think you must to work better in your products before start release more and more and more.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from As advertised (and I am shocked) I am fairly new to drone flying, and have had a Phantom 4 for a little over a year or so. I started flying over the ocean recently, and it was very hard to see what the drone saw on my iPad mini. Looked for a solution, and was directed to CrystalSky. Got it yesterday. Was on the beach today, in bright sunlight, no clouds. I saw a bright, clear image, with the screen exposed to the sun. I could fly the drone based on what the camera saw, and not just my line of sight. When a tech product is as they say it is, I am shocked. Wonderfully shocked here. I have to get used to Android commands, but that is not so hard. Very happy with this purchase.

    Rated 4 out of 5 by from DOA, but replacement is great The display backlight burned out after about 30 minutes due to a problem known to DJI.� There are firmware updates to fix.� If your unit starts to get very warm and battery drains very quickly, turn it off and let it cool.� When you turn it back on, first thing turn on Wi-Fi so the O/S can check for firmware update and fix itself . . . Work beautifully in direct sunlight but seems a but slow as a an Android device in this day and age.� Nonetheless, the full-size HDMI OUT is nice and two SD card slots are handy.� A bit heavy for hand-held use, but that's the price to pay for rugged.

    Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not Vaporware after all... I pre-ordered the DJI CrystalSky 7.85" Ultra-Bright Monitor on July 30th and was told it would ship by the end of August. But it didn't ship until December 11th. So in November I ordered the High Brightness version and it arrived in early December.� The High Brightness version is very bright and easy to see in direct sunlight.� Now that I have both the High Brightness and Ultra-Bright DJI CrystalSky 7.85" monitors, and look at them side by side in direct sunlight, I can say the Ultra-Bright version is worth the extra dough as it really is much easier to see an almost totally clear and bright image even in direct sunlight whereas the High Brightness version is still easy to see, but the image is not as totally clear and bright as the Ultra-Bright version is.� I'm the pilot, so my plan is to use the High Brightness version to fly with and then have my camera person use the Ultra-Bright version so they can compose the images and adjust the camera's settings using the brightest and clearest monitor. One major plus, the DJI Go App is faster and way more solid & reliable on the CrystalSky monitors than when running the same app on Apple iPads.� Also, I really like how secure the monitor's mount to the remote is and how it all feels very solid in hand. Nothing like the stock bracket that my iPads would fall out of so easily. That problem is eliminated. One major negative is you can't (at this time) install any other apps on these CrystalSky monitors. No Litchi, DroneDeploy, SiteScan, etc., etc. With this in mind, I'm not sure it was such a great idea to buy these darn things... Hopefully, DJI will allow 3rd party apps soon with a firmware upgrade. Otherwise, these monitors will be useful for only one application, shooting videos and stills. What about mapping, agriculture, inspections and other industrial jobs that use specific apps? We have to switch back to iPads? Please no. And what a hassle, having to change out the mounting brackets, etc. Please DJI! Let us install other apps on CrystalSky, please! One thing I should mention but have not had the chance to field test yet is battery life. It seems like the Ultra-Bright version uses batteries much faster than the High Brightness version. Something to think about when you've got a ton of flying to do... Conclusion: I'd give both monitors five stars if and when I can install other apps.

    Rated 1 out of 5 by from ONLY 2 HOURS OF USE UNTIL BACKLIGHT FAILED I read the many reports on RCGroups and other forums about failed backlights on Ultra Bright but thought surely they fixed it by now. I’ll update the firmware as soon as I take it out of the box and everything will be great! I was wrong. HDMI Output never worked, constantly flashing “HDMI Connected” and “HDMI Disconnected”, tried several different cables and with both my FatShark goggles and an HDTV.� Also had several lockup’s in the middle of a flight which required me to pull the batter to get it to turn off.� Then yesterday it happened, on my 5th flight using the CrystalSky the display started flashing and then the backlight failed rendering the device useless outdoors in the sunlight.� I’ll be going back to my iPad/Hoodman setup. The CrystalSky is brilliant when it’s working correctly, unmatched by any other display I’ve tried in the bright sun. But it’s clear they’ve got a big problem with these UltraBrights which probably explains the production delays they initially had. So glad I purchased though B&H for a hassle free return and I don’t have to deal with DJI’s horrible customer support!

    Rated 1 out of 5 by from Another dead backlight! I purchased a Crystal Sky 7.85” Ultra Bright here in late March 2018 and for health reasons was not able to use it until late May. It worked for less than 10 minutes at 75 degrees F, got very hot, and then the backlight burned out.� I usually do not base a rating on a product being DOA because any manufacturer can make a bad sample. But in this case If you go to the DJI or other drone forums you will find this is a common problem with many of these backlights failing within minutes of first use. �Many also fail after being repaired by DJI and even after the second repair. This suggests a design problem rather than a manufacturiing problem. I just sent mine back to DJI. When I get it back I intend to take it outside in the sun, turn it on, and run the battery down. If it gets too hot I would expect it to dim or temporarily shut off, but not to completely fail. Hopefully it will survive. If the backlight burns out again, as so many others have, I’m going to ask B&H for a refund based on this device being not fit for purpose. �I suggest that the rest of you who have failed �units do the same. That is the only way we will put pressure on DJI to resolve this. I rarely give an item 1 star and even more rarely outright recommend buyers stay away from a product, but in this case I recommend you do not purchase this product.� Stay away from these, they are just trouble!

    Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hoping threes the charm I pre-ordered the Ultra Bright last year but didn't get it til Dec 2017. I have a Phantom 4P Pro + and love the screen on it, which is equivalent to the Extra bright monitor, so thought it would be great to have the Ultra Bright for my Inspire 2. It's great for the little bit of time I've been able to use it. The first unit failed on the second flight after on one set of batteries for the Inspire 2. Sent it in and it was repaired under warranty. This time it lasted less than one total flight. Sent it in and it was again repaired under warranty. It again lasted less than one flight. They replaced it under warranty. The new unit didn't even last ten minutes. I just now received my third unit and have not had the chance to try it yet but I'm hoping that the third time is the charm. Mind you that each time I sent the unit in it took about two weeks back and forth. DJI will not refund or allow me to down grad to the other monitor. Maybe others have been lucky and have gotten units that have somehow survived but I feel like these units were not ready to be released and buyer beware.

    Rated 2 out of 5 by from Screen Flickering This has not been a pleasant experience. Finally got the Mavic Pro, remote and CrystalSky 7.85 Ultra bright communicating with each other. Got ready to take it out to fly and the monitor began flickering wildly, I could see a partial screen below the main screen, so I am seeing two screens fading in and out and the wild flickering with some white edge around the screen. Battery went from 73 percent on the crystalSky to 17 percent in about 3 to 4 minutes. Tried resetting the monitor and it did not cure the problem. At $1000.00 you expect a product to work. I am returning this as I have read this is a very common problem with the CrystalSky. I am disappointed, I have invested int the charger for 90 bucks, a mount for 80.00 bucks, and nothing works. B & H is great but I am very unhappy about DJI releasing this and all the problems I� am reading about. Don't think my next drone or monitor will be DJI.
