The product does what expect and works with both Mac and PC machines as well as projectors and tvs in converting and running the signal over distance. Perfect for our setup. The BH team was great and super fast, even during the holiday rush. Best prices out there. Thank You team

I have used this unit at other events. It works perfectly in long runs of SDI cable converting to HDMI. I have yet to use this particular one I just purchased but I expect the same results.

Problem Solver

I had been using an HDMI to SDI converter with two SDI outs and another converter to make one of the SDI outputs back into HDMI. This unit allows me to do all of that in one compact, high quality piece with better picture than before. Well worth the money!

Our place of worship employ several of these in our 3G-SDI livestream production set up. We have never had any issues with them or their operation. We have employed them both converting HDMI to SDI as well as SDI to HDMI (for display panels). We installed these unit in the summer of 2020 and they have performed flawlessly. Great product!

After a few years muddling around with other converters that died at the most in-opportune times, I realized that I should have just bought these. Just buy a decimator.

Will this convert an HDMI signal from 1080p to 1080i?
Asked by: Kevin
I'm afraid not. This product is just a Bidirectional Converter that will change SDI to HDMI and HDMI to SDI. It does not do frame rate conversions and scaling. For that you would need to look at the DECIMATOR MD-HX, which is a HDMI/SDI Cross Converter with Scaling & Frame Rate Conversion. https://bhpho.to/2fDbJBb

question

I want to place this between a computer and projector looping through a Blackmagic ATEM. HDMI (Computer) - SDI (ATEM) - SDI (ATEM-AUX) - HDMI (Projector). The question is what happens if the ATEM is off. Will this automatically switch the projector to the Computer HDMI (Computer) - HDMI (Projector)?
Asked by: Daniel H.
As we see it, the outputs are always active so you should be good to go.

For the HDCP, is it set to pass through as copyrighted or uncopyrighted? The BM mini converters set to copyright, which is usually not an issue, but I want to covert my SDI camera feed to HDMI into a capture USB device. The USB sees the BM converter as copyrighted, won't pass it. So how does the Decimator output HDCP? Copyright on or off? Thanks
Asked by: Ben
For your use, SDI out of the camera, it should be fine. It has worked for me with all recorders I have tried. I'm surprised your BM converter has that issue if you are coming directly out of camera. I would check to see if your USB capture device isn't the problem.

The unit is able to be powered from a USB port, but if you do not have a USB port available it does come with an adapter that you can connect the USB cable and plug into a 110 outlet.
