Meade 629002 reviews

#500 Glass White Light Solar Filter (127mm) is rated 2.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from BE WARNED - Make sure you have the correct size filter Unlike camera lens filters which you would purchase the mm size matching the filter size printed on the front of the lens, like 127mm. Telescope filters differ and are measured using the diameter of the filter collar. They are designed so that the filter collar will slip over the telescope tube and will fit telescope tubes less than the filter mm size, not equal to. For example, a Meade ETX-125 telescope has a measurement on the front of the scope, like D = 127mm, purchasing a matching filter of 127mm will not work as the filter collar and telescope tube are exactly the same and the filter cannot slip over the telescope tube. For a Meade ETX-125 telescope, 5 inch glass/5.75 inch tube you need the next size up, a Meade #575 Glass White Light Solar Filter (146mm). Luckily these filters come in a non-sealed padded flip open box, with the filter in a completely sealed plastic bag. This allowed me to physically match the filter to the telescope tube to see that it would not fit, without removing it from the sealed plastic bag. My rating is an attempt to warn others, not a reflection of the product.
