TP-Link RE500 overview

  • 1Description

Expand the reach of your current Wi-Fi network by up to 14,000 square feet with the RE500 AC1900 Wi-Fi Range Extender from TP-Link. This range extender operates on both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies and supports the 802.11ac networking standard offering a total bandwidth of up to 1900 Mbps. These enhanced data transfer rates make it easy to use this adapter to stream HD multimedia content, game online, download large files, and much more. The four adjustable antennas allow you to tailor your signal to ensure all areas are covered while the dedicated Gigabit Ethernet port provides a wired network connection for Ethernet-enabled devices. When installing this range extender, you can rest assured you will place it in the proper location thanks to the intelligent signal light.

AC1900 Dual-Band Speed
Running up to 3x faster than traditional AC range extenders, the RE500 uses 3×3 MU-MIMO technology to serve up to three devices at once, reducing wait time and boosting Wi-Fi throughput for every device.

Built-in 3-Stream technology helps reach maximum speeds of up to 600 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and 1300 Mbps on 5 GHz, supporting your most demanding online activities, including simultaneous 4K streaming and lag-free gaming.
Wi-Fi Extension up to 14,000 Square Feet
With four external dual-band antennas, the RE500 establishes a stable wireless connection to any Wi-Fi router to boost the network's coverage by up to 14,000 square feet.

Beamforming adds strength to the coverage by detecting the location of devices and concentrating Wi-Fi towards them for targeted connections.
Intelligent Signal Indicator
The Intelligent Signal Light helps you quickly find the best location to install the RE500.
Drop-Free, Seamless, Dual-Band Connections
If one of the main router's dual bands drops suddenly, or in case the main router can only deliver single band, the RE500 still provides stable dual-band connections, allowing you to enjoy stable and drop-free experience on all your devices.
Built-in Access Point Mode
The RE500 is more than a wireless range extender. Simply plug an Ethernet cable into its Ethernet port and easily turn your wired internet connection into a 3×3 MU-MIMO dual band wireless access point.
Reliable Wired Connection
The RE500's Gigabit Ethernet port lets you connect a wired device such as a game console or smart TV to create a fast, reliable wired connection.
Easy Monitoring and Control
TP-Link Tether is an intuitive app that let you conveniently monitor the state of your range extender, control its functions and alter its settings from any compatible mobile device.

    TP-Link RE500 reviews

    RE500 AC1900 Wi-Fi Range Extender is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from WORKS IN A TOWNHOUSE! My parents have a 4-floor townhouse and the router is on the ground floor. The signal was already down to 2 bars by the second floor and zero to none by the third. The Smart TV on the 3rd floor wouldn't work. Once I installed this extender, everything was beautiful. Full bars all the way up. I placed it on the landing between floors 2 & 3. Great buy!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The RE500 does not retain its settings I need a range extender in a remote location. When I tried to install the RE500 it just would not finish the set-up but hang. After a couple of resets I finally managed to get a working unit and it worked just fine for about 2 months. Then it lost its settings. TP-Link Tech support finally decided to send me a new unit. The set-up worked like a charm but after just a few hours the brand new unit also lost its settings. The symptoms are now exactly the same as with the 1st unit, i.e. set-up hangs. Now I am in trouble shoot mode with tech support again. Because the location I use after the set-up is not easily reached loosing the settings and requiring a new set-up is a nightmare and not acceptable. B&H is not willing to give me a refund because the 30 days for the initial unit are over and the brand new unit was not from their inventory but from TP-Link tech support. TP-Link does not want to give me a refund either but suggested to negotiate with the retailer or keep on trouble shooting...
