    TP-Link T4UHP reviews

    Archer T4UHP Wireless AC1300 High-Power Dual-Band USB Adapter is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It deserves more good press I had been in search of a good USB WiFi adapter for my Thinkpad. With the build-in antenna, my Thinkpad only delivers around 10 Mb/sec, and very unstable throughput, sometimes it drops to 1-2 Mb/sec for no reason, and the only cure is to disable and re-enable WiFi. At first, I bought a generic hi-gain 1200AC adapter that plugs into my Thinkpad. It broke after six weeks due to poor construction, I got a replacement, and it was dead out-of-the-box. I learned a good lesson on cheap generic adapters. I have routers from Cisco/Linksys, and TP-Link, all had served me very well for years. So I decided to go back to a brand I trust. I decided on the T4UHP because it claims to be a high-power model. My concern was the lack of review on B&H (and anywhere else) for this unit. Clearly it is not a big seller, and for a good reason. Because you won't want it if you need to move your laptop around with the adapter attached (it attaches to the computer with a 4-ft cord), it is good for desktop, or if your laptop stays on one desk. Given the poor result of the internal WiFi, I thought it may worth a try. Well, I am not disappointed! The download speed is rock steady, pushing 102Mb/sec on a 100Mb/sec Internet connection. Upload speed is also pushing the max for my ISP. Best of all, the connection is stable, you don't get ups-and-downs in speed for unknown reasons. I have never witnessed any drop in performance after many sleep/wake and restart cycles. Overall, I am very happy with the adapter. In retrospect, I might do just as well with their T4UH or T9UH. They are much more portable, and with the additional flexibility of the dock. But they are definitely less powerful, and you only have one little built-in antenna to work with (antenna number and size matters). If weak signal is not an issue for you, you may do better with those antenna. But if you want max sensitivity and power, I think the T4UHP is a better buy.
