Benro BV10H overview

  • 1Description

The Benro BV10H 100mm Video Head supports cameras and accessories up to 22 pounds, and features a sliding balance plate with both a 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 camera tie-down screws. Incorporating a 100mm half ball fitting for quick leveling without having to adjust the legs, it provides a wide platform to support your camera.

The BV10H fluid head features a 4-step counterbalance system with a zero setting for when you want the head to be completely free. Likewise, the pan and tilt functions feature three steps, plus a zero setting. Pan and tilt drag are independent and each function has its own lock. An integrated 3/8"-16 threaded mounting hole enables you to mount accessories directly to the head, relieving the strain of mounting them to your camera. The panhandle mounts via a rosette, and can be attached to either side of the fluid head. An integrated bubble level helps you quickly level the head.

Sliding balance plate is 501/504PL compatible, and includes 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 camera tie-down screws.
The pan, tilt, and counterbalance settings control are similar in function and use, for an easy learning curve and simpler operation.
Counterbalance settings: 0, 8.8, 13.2, 17.6, and 22 pounds.
Independent pan and tilt drag and locks.
Pan and tilt adjustments and locks are located on the left side of the head making it easy to adjust with a single hand while operating the camera.
Pan, tilt, and counterbalance settings are stepped and indexed, which allows you to make precise adjustments by feel.
The 100mm half ball can be used on tripod legs and mounting adapters with standard 100mm half-ball adapters.
The tilt range allows you to tilt from straight down to almost straight up.
The included panhandle mounts to the fluid head via a rosette. The head incorporates two rosettes, one on each side, which enables mounting the panhandle on the left or right side of the head. An additional panhandle (not included) can be mounted to the fluid head via the second rosette.

    Benro BV10H reviews

    BV10H 100mm Video Head is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply Fantastic I bought this to use with a 1DxMkII and 600mm f4. I was looking for a smoother solution than my Wimberly II Gimbal for moving aircraft and birds in flight, while using extremely-slow shutter 1/25 and 1/15. I figured a video head would do the trick. Not knowing anything about them (I'm a studio photographer), I tried a bunch in the entry-level arena...none of them were 100% successful. I had slight jerkiness, inconsistent drag, backlash, grinding and vibration on anything under $500. (the Benro S8, was the best of what I tried...but still a bit lacking). After a fair amount of research, I decided on the BV10H (by the way, money or brand was not really an issue. I was thinking around $2.5k max, if a head had what I needed). One of my deal-breakers was having a 3/8" side accessory mount. Being able to run video along side a big lens shooting stills is one of my goals. So, I went with the BV10H. I gotta say, it's built like a tank, and is VERY, very smooth. I don't impress easily, but I'm truly impressed, especially for the price. I was reluctant, because the levels of drag were so few...but as it ends up, they're all that's needed. Even my camcorder with its 250x digital zoom is remarkably smooth. The lockup on the bowl is amazingly quick as well the grip is rubberized, so tightening is a snap (a few others I tried needed a tool to clamp down, with all that weight). The 3/8" side socket should be standard on any tripod head. Everything is simple, out of the box operation. Attach and level your camera...and you're loaded for bear. I would recommend this product 100% What are the CONS? Wish it had a light on the bubble level (like on the S8). This was fixed with aFrogLeggs tiny LED (about the size of a button) positioned just above the bubble. Other than that...the BV10H is good to go.
