I have ProGrade Digital 128GB UHS-II v60 card. The file transfer speed from the reader to old Crucial M500 SSD through USB 3.2 Gen 1 5Gbps Type-A is over 200 MB/s. (MSI PRO Z690-A WIFI DDR4 motherboard. end of 2021). Similar speed to a regular Seagate 7200rpm 2TB drive. Haven't tried the Gen 2 10Gbps port. The speed is just over 100 MB/s on an 8 y/o motherboard like Asus Z87-A. First gen of USB 3.0 Enjoy the fast speed w Sony UHS-II card reader. but i don't drive fast :)

A pleasant surprise

I ordered this after a discussion with a BH Photo sales person but, other than expecting that it would work, I knew little about the product when I ordered it. I was very pleasantly surprised: 1. It is self contained ... it plugs right into a USB port. No cable to look for. This is important to me because I have lots of cables lying around and don't like to spend time finding the right one. 2. It has a cover for the USB connector so it will be easy to take with me ... and transfer my images to my laptop ... when I travel. 3. I am not one to measure transfer speeds but this device is plenty fast for transferring a bunch of image files from my memory chips to my computer. I am happy with this purchase and am also grateful to the BH staff for recommending it.

Not so fast.

question

I was given this reader as a gift, but when using it with my late 2013 mac pro and uhs-II cards or cards in general it is very slow. In fact my old non uhs-II reader is faster. Is there a solution for this?
Asked by: Anonymous
Currently, using USB 3.1 cables and ports and UHS-II SD memory cards, is one of the fastest ways to transfer photos available. It is likely that your computer does not have USB 3.1 ports available so these high speeds will be slowed by the much slower computer and ports being used. Whichever is the slowest link in the chain will throttle all of the others to its speed.

Does the reader have a push-to-eject mechanism ...

Does the reader have a push-to-eject mechanism like those card slots in cameras?
Asked by: Martin
No it does not have an eject mechanism, its not needed. When an SD-Card is inserted into the Sony reader the tail of the card sticks out 3/8" so its easy to insert and remove.
