Using Linux as a base, Google designed Chrome OS to work exclusively with web applications. The user interface takes a minimalist approach, which greatly resembles the Google Chrome web browser. Chrome OS was built for people who spend a majority, if not all, of their time on the computer connected to the Internet. The only application that comes installed on Chrome OS is a special Google Chrome web browser with an integrated media player and file manager. All other applications are accessed by adding apps from the Google Chrome Web Store. Since Chrome OS relies entirely on Google's web apps and access to Google's services, it is highly recommended that you connect to the Internet to optimize your Chrome OS experience

Samsung Chromebook Pro Reviews

Purchased Chromebook over two years ago and have had several issues. Lost Wi-fi connectivity within a month, Samsung fixed it with no problems. A year after purchase the touch screen began to fail, Chromebook became useless because different screens would be selected opened and closed. Samsung fixed the issue as the warranty had just expired. Almost two years later the screen is failing again. Customer service has been great, the Chromebook is great when it works properly. But would not recommend purchase because of the many issues I have experienced.

Things I wish I had known before buying the Samsung Chromebook Pro (CONS): 1. YOU CANNOT DOWNLOAD THE NORMAL VERSION OF MICROSOFT!!!!! I soo wish I had known this. You can only download the mobile versions of microsoft which lack so many features and honestly just don't cut it for me. 2. You can't download other Mac/Windows apps...I needed a data analysis software for school but because I have a chromebook, I can't download it and now I am forced to sit at a desktop at school to do my work when my classmates get to go home. 3. The thing works basically like a tablet instead of a computer which is really annoying sometimes because again, all the apps are fit to a tablet and just perform more poorly. 4. Basically the worst part is the apps...if you don't care about that then great, this is the laptop for you. But it literally affects every single thing I do and drives me insane. PROS: 1. Fantastic battery life 2. Fantastic screen 3. Pen works perfectly 4. Keyboard is small, but not too small 5. Very light weight and thin, but still durable 6. Fast (most of the time)

I got this 3/2 years ago for Christmas and I believe this is the worst peace of technology. This computer costs less then my phone and the performance is very poor for the cost. After the years of having this computer battery dies extremely fast and from it constantly from it being plunged in and unplugged the cord doesn't like to stay in the whole way. If your looking for a computer that actually can have a desktop and not just a blank background that essentially does nothing. This product would not bee for you because all the computer has on the desktop is whatever you have in your hot bar and a little dot in the bottom left.

this is the simplest laptop I've ever seen. Now, I know that that's how Chromebooks are supposed to be, but this is just unbelievable. This computer is basically just a chrome browser with a keyboard. Also, even though it says it can download apps through the google play store, almost all of the apps there aren't configured to a Chromebook, meaning they don't work. In conclusion, this computer is a total waste of money, and after doing some research, I found that you could by a Surface go for $100 less, so don't waste your money on this piece of garbage.

Good but not great

This Chromebook has all the features to be great. Fast processor (for a Chromebook), 2 in 1, garaged stylus, beautiful screen. The price is even reasonable given the list of features. Some reviews complain about the keyboard but I find it perfectly serviceable, especially for a laptop of this size. I like the small footprint so I am willing to trade off a bit on the keyboard. The track pad works well although the click takes a bit too much pressure and is only available in the bottom 2/3 of the pad which can be annoying. Where the Chromebook Pro really falls short is its use of a much older kernel which means it does not yet have Linux program support through crostini. It really makes no sense because the Plus version uses the newer kernel. If or when the Chromebook Pro gets Linux app support it will be the best Chromebook on the market given its features and price.

I got this computer for school work and it works pretty well, but it does get very hot, and it dents very easily. My computer got knocked off my desk a little while ago and now it has a bug. The bug makes it so that everytime touchscreen is enabled, the screen starts to expand and contract and close my tabs. Another problem I have is that I cannot pick my computer up without using both hands or it will do the same thing. Overall this computer is pretty good and I would recommend you try it, just be careful not to drop it.

Why is this one more expensive than the $449 Chromebook? Is it simply because it's black?
Asked by: SueAnn C.
The black model has a dual core processor and the silver model has a mobile processor. It means the black one has a more powerful processor!

Does this laptop have provision for additional memory?
Asked by: Jay
Hi Jay - the Samsung Chromebook Pro has a micro SD card slot for additional storage memory, but as far as Im aware, there is no provision for adding extra RAM. I use a 64gb micro SD card and have found that more than adequate.Cheers
