Sunwayfoto DDP-64SI Overview

The DDP-64SI and DDY-64I Indexing Rotator Combo from Sunwayfoto helps to create spherical or HDR panoramas or can be used as a conventional panning base, which has four detent intervals of 8, 12, 15, and 18°. Moreover, the laser-engraved index marks show your 360° of rotation, which is secured with the rotation locking knob.

The Rotator has a weight capacity of 17.6 lb, and the dovetail mount is Arca-type compatible with most plates on the market. The Rotator Combo is made of CNC-machined T6061 aluminum with a black anodized finish, making it corrosion- and scratch-resistant. The hollowed out design of the rotator makes it lightweight and portable.

Sunwayfoto DDP-64SI Indexing Rotator for Panoramas

The DDP-64SI Indexing Rotator for Panoramas from Sunwayfoto has 4 different selectable click options - 8, 12, 15, and 18°. This rotator also has 64mm footprint (diameter), and is best suited for ultra wide fisheye lenses when capturing full 360 x 180° spherical or HDR panoramas.

Combining CNC machined aircraft aluminum parts, with a compact and durable design, the DDP-64SI also provides for very precise, fluid rotation required of professional photographers. You can also change click stops on-the-fly, which is ideal in time-sensitive situations when shooting must be completed quickly. These include shooting high resolution multi-image mosaics, or shooting the same scene at different focal lengths.

Review of Sunwayfoto DDP-64SI & DDY-64I Indexing  Rotator

This Sunwayfoto DDP-64SI & DDY-64I Indexing Rotator is really for a Robus Monopod, but B&H is out of stock of the Robus monopod, so I tested it on my Robus tripod. I tested all the four possible detent variations and I could clearly hear the clicks, works as designed, a little heavy but should work for me for a long time.

Do the proper screws come with this combo to attach the clamp to the panning base? The ones shown in the pictures will not match the holes in the clamp base, and it doesn't say in the description or in the "what's in the box".
Asked by: Joe
To connect the clamp to the indexing rotator base, use a 3/8"-16 to 1/4"-20 Reducer Bushing: https://bhpho.to/2h2W42E This bushing is not included "in the box"

Is it possible to mount another 64mm discal clamp ...

Is it possible to mount another 64mm discal clamp on the opposite side of the one it comes with? Making for both sides of the rotator to have discal clamps. There is no bottom picture.
Asked by: Steven
Steven, The short answer: yes you can. The longer answer: The DDP-64SI mounts to the DDY-641 not with a center bolt but with a bolt on each side (you can see in the picture). There are four mounting holes on BOTH the top and bottom of the rotator. To be sure I took mine apart and mounted the clamp on the bottom of the rotator. I don't know if the combo comes with extra bolts, but you should be able to buy them at any good hardware store. I'm using the combo in a an unconventional way: the combo is mounted to my GITZO GT3542XLS tripod and to that I have mounted a ProMediaGear Tomahawk gimbal adapter (which I originally bought for my RRS BH55 ball head), giving me the same functionality as a true gimbal head without having to purchase a separate gimbal head. Hope this helps. G. Anderson

Will removal of the top clamp allow for the use of the standard 3/8" screw and thus ballhead (directly on the rotator vs through the clamp)?
